I really like him so hopefully he gets a fight.

To the amirkhani point, I lean him here for a few reasons

1. He’s very good early on; has super high level wrestling (one of the best in the division outside of the top 15) and great bjj. So early on, he will be able to deal with pearces pressure

2. Pearce is the definition of all offense, no defense. I haven’t seen him in trouble on the ground but, I would assume he is the same way on the ground; he has a great chin but is just reckless on the feet and shows absolutely 0 respect for striking defense. He’s been subbed before so I assume he is reckless there too

3. I had doubts about if makhwan actually wanted to still fight, but after that win he seemed very adamant about continuing onwards with fighting; he’s also staying active which is nice. He’s not old and despite the decline in record, if he’s still motivated he can provide a very tough test

Basically, I think it’s makhwan early with a sub or JSP takes over as the fight goes on and wears away on him

I could never put my finger on it but after reading your post I can totally see how constant offense & lack of defense is a superb way to describe his current approach. Great analysis appreciate it!

I agree with what you're sayin -  I too think he leaves himself too wide open on the feet, but I don't put much stock into Amirkhani's striking so that sways me in favor of Pearce.

I do agree that it's valid to infer Pearce's lack of defense carrying over on the ground, but at the same time I tend to give it less consideration as he was subbed in 2016. I think he either worked on that area (or perhaps again to your point), he adjusted by simply increasing his offense.

Finally, it's nice to hear from someone else talk about the importance of the mental game. I always value that aspect highly when making a choice, and I feel the majority of fans do not.

👍 glad you enjoyed and hope it helps. It’s a pretty tough one to pick cuz like I said, it’s either makhwan early or Pearce late. Also, to be fair, Pearce hasn’t fought anyone with the grappling credentials of makhwan. He’s known For his very tricky series of front chokes, be it the anaconda or the darce choke and has seriously good wrestling so I think he will provide a great test for Pearce and possibly win. I’m leaning with the win here just simply because I don’t like the all offense approach from Pearce. I meam, I do, but not against someone who will capitalize on any mistake you make (just see the Grundy fight for a perfect example lol)

And yes, the mental aspect sounds like a reach but it’s crucial to a figbters success imo. If your heart isn’t 100% in it, you will not have the same performance you usually do; you have to be 100% committed and it sounds like makhwan has sparked a new flame

Yeah exactly @theearaser he is very skilled and beats most guys with the offensive approach, but all offense is not gonna work against top guys. Hell, we even saw lauzon take advantage of it; he’s still good for like 2 minutes and he was peicing up Pearce before getting on the ground and messing him up

and i agree with @ayy just like anything else in life if your head isnt really in something you will not do something as well take it from someone whos very negative on themselves im no fighter lol but plenty of occasions where im too negative on myself and either will not complete the task at hand or just dont do it that well you really have to kind of tell yourself your the **** without being a ****y **** so i can only imagine being a pro fighter and having to tell yourself im the best

Krylov vs. Gustafsson
Alexander Gustafsson, DEC
Close fight, I’m banking on Alex showing up but you never know these days

McCann vs. Goldy
Molly McCann, DEC
Why does the ufc put this on the main card lmao

Amirkhani vs. Pearce
Makwan Amirkhani, SUB, R2
Hard to say. I’ll go with Makwan but it could go either way

Herbert vs. Nelson
Jai Herbert, TKO, R1
Herbert is a good fighter, he’s just had a rough go of it in the ufc. Losing to Trinaldo, Moicano and Toupira. He should definitely win this though, Nelson is as medicore as they come so it’s simple pick

Wood vs. Rosa
Nathaniel Wood, DEC
Rosa is exceptionally tough, but that’s the only thing he’s got going for him here

Darren till is out because of an injury. So sad to see this keep happening to him. I think Muniz will be the replacement (pure speculation, nothing official)

UFC website says it’s Chris Curtis replacing Darren Till

Is this a typo on their end or an early confirmation? Not sure but he’s up posted as if he is fighting.

Well if it is on the ufc website, it’s usually pretty accurate so he may very well be the replacement. That’s a terrible matchup for jack; just a repeat of the Strickland fight

Very good stylistic matchup for Chris Curtis. His grappling defense looked very good against Vieira and he has Strickland to work with this for preparation, the dude Hermanson last lost too.
