Adesanya vs. Cannonier
Israel Adesanya, TKO, R2
Jared just manages to get hurt very early & very often in fights. Israel may not have enough raw power to put him out, but he knows how to place his shots just right to put him down badly. I don't see this going past two rounds.

Tavares vs. Du Plessis
Dricus Du Plessis, TKO, R2
Dricus is mainly a grappler who added to himself some striking abilities. Don't think Brad can make this ugly and shut down Dricus for long enough to win.

I've watched the Izzy/Cannonier hotel handshake about 49 times now. 98.5% certain Izzy gets murked now. [0:05]You see Izzy becomes aware Jared is walking through as he reaches his peripheral and instantly shuffles his foot to disperse the adrenaline hit, he pretends to be deeply focused on his phone although his foot has given him away. He senses Jared looking at him and realises he can't hide in his phone. [0:07]He initiates a hand shake in an attempt to cover the moment of weakness. The insular cortex of his brain is in overdrive, he is so focused on completing this handshake to recover the dignity lost that he can't formulate even a basic verbal acknowledgement of Jared. You can tell Jared is surprised how easily Izzy has exposed his insecurity. [0:09]Jared is a master of reading the energy and asserts himself in this moment,  greeting Izzy and forcing him to engage in this verbal exchange. Izzy knows he has been read, his response - barely coherent. "Ready, as we do, easy." His insular cortex still unable to process the wording as it desperately seeks to stabilise the stress response from the devastating blow that has just been dealt to the ego. [0:11]Cortisol floods Izzy's system as he retracts his hand, the insular cortex unable to resolve the scenario. He dives back into his safe space, pretending his sole focus is the phone. [0:14] He sucks his lips in, pressing his tongue against them to comfort himself. He stares at his phone but is clearly shaken. His ego cowered like a lamb in the presence of a lion. Jared has broken him already and they both felt it.

Knowing how fragile and insecure Izzy's ego is, constantly obsessing over how others perceive him this is a critical strike against him. The mental defeat displayed here will haunt him for the rest of fight week.

You will observe in the coming days Izzy will reference this interaction often with no prompting in interviews, evidence of the mental energy expended in calculating how to reframe the narrative, but in doing so he will again expose his intense insecurity.

Jared TKO rd2.

Where did this handshake happen? Was it on embedded?

In the past, I put a lot of stock in these kinds of things. But after years of watching sports and specifically combat sports, I have realized it means very little. The physical and mental preparation and training is what is important. A majority of both are done behind closed doors.

It is fun as hell though to see and speculate about these things even if we can never know the context fully.

To me it's hard to pick. On paper there are several really close fights, which could play out various ways. I'm still on the fence on two or three fights.

By the way, I have a question for you guys. Just curious how you think about this. What should Max do after losing his trilogy with Volk? Should he stay at Featherweight or should he move up to Lightweight?

Pedro Vs Suga

Based on the levels of competition. Pedro should take this to the cleaners. But I don’t understand why Suga is such a fav unless it’s just the odd makers trying to trick some people and get the mases to bet O’Malley? I’ll definitely sprinkle some on Pedro. I’d suggest everybody does too.

Win or lose Max can do whatever he wants. He is one of the few fighters in the UFC that everyone wants to fight regardless if he has a belt or not. This gives him options.

I would think if he loses it also depends on what fashion. If the fight goes similar to the last two, I would like to see the McGregor rematch. I don’t really want to see Holloway at lightweight after the Poirier fight. But Max can do anything he wants and I can see him fighting another contender like he did Last time.

It would also be interesting to know Holloway’s contract situation. I can see him wanting to box.

I doubt he would get the Oliveira rematch after losing but anything is possible in the UFC.
