I'm not going to count on that though. I think Shields will have a rough time getting Akiyama to the mat in the first round, but by the 2nd Akiyama will have slowed enough for Shileds to put him on his back and tap him out.

@torch that statistic is misleading. Akiyama has had 4 fights in the ufc, the three he lost were against stand-up fighters.

@ben that is very true.
Shields doesn't really have explosive take downs though, and I think it will be very tough for him to clinch up and win against a Judo champion.
