Great fight. I'm basically considering Johnson on a five-fight winning streak.

Why is it a great fight if you think Johnson's on a five-fight winning streak? Shouldn't Johnson face someone more relevant in the rankings?

I'd be a lot more hyped for this if there was any indication that Nate cared about his career or was going to learn how to check leg kicks. As it is Johnson will probably use him as a punching bag in a dull noncompetitive fight like Nate's last with RDA.

Nates regarded as a top 10 talent by most everyone even if he's not in the actual top 10. On top of this, Nate is a huge name.....and who else can Johnson face? He just beat/lost to Dariush, Khabib and Ferguson are fighting, Dos Anjos and Cowboy are fighting, he already whooped Barboza, Bendo moved up in weight, Gil failed a drug test and Anthony Pettis is probably injured anyways.

Nate by sub. Put it in the books.

Also in regards to Johnson fighting a better opponent in the rankings due to a five fight winning streak and all that...nah. Nate doesn't fight enough to accurately gauge him rankings wise. He lost to the champ his last time out, but everyone seems extremely convinced RDA is on PEDs. Plus RDA then went on to maul Pettis way worse than he did Nate. Nate's still elite, ***** just needs to stop taking a year off between fights and/or start taking **** seriously again. Him missing weight against RDA concerns me that he's going into fights half assed just to cash a check. This pick could change after the weigh ins or during the lead up to the fight depending on whether or not Nate makes weight and if he seems to give a **** or not. As of right now, I think a motivated Nate Diaz is way too much for Michael Johnson.

I hope Nate Diaz wears Metal Mulisha **** to the weigh ins and then weighs 183 when he steps on the scale. I love me some Diaz antics.

The problem with the diaz bros is that they have zero sense of urgency in a fight, they tough as nails and could prolly last for 10 rounds, but 3 and 5 round fights against top competition make their style usually lose.

Tough fight for Nate...his heart just doesnt seem in it this last year. Like Cthulu said I think a motivated Diaz would be able to beat Johnson but I just don't where his heads at. I will wait until it's close to fight time to pick this one too.

Maybe I'm drinking the Koolaid, but I have a feeling Diaz is primed for an upset in this one. Johnson has the tools to beat him, but Diaz is supposedly healthy and in great shape, and that boy's top 5 when he's on his game. This is coming from a huge critic of both Diaz brothers in terms of their versatility.

I'm having a hard time picking this fight ... when it was first announced I thought easy pick. Nate's been frustrated and unmotivated for a whilte now, MJ won't engage too much, dance around for 15, tag Nate but not really hurt him a-la the Joe Lauzon fight, get flipped off and cussed at but win the solid UD.

Then I start seeing signs that maybe Nate's actually into this MMA thing again ... I say oh well, still, when you see the styles clash, you know MJ won't brawl and is quicker and has better footwork, he's supposed to win the fight via not being there when Nate's plodding forward.

THEN I watch the Road to the Octagon and **** me sideways, Nate Diaz looks like he back. Not talking about skills, just that he generally looks like the fire is back. He's smiling, his eyes light up, he cares and he's in shape. Now I don't know who to pick.

The wannabe fighter analyst in me says, too fast, too cautious, footwork too good for a plodder like Nate to catch him in a corner and go to work. But when comparing grit and just visualizing the fight I can see a scenario where Nate manages to pressure MJ who'll eventually start taking him down because the pressure of Nate's volume is too much and end up getting subbed.

Then again, when I pick a Michael Johnson fight it goes the other way. Every time.

I think Johnson is a safe pick for this one, he own victory over toff guy like Tony Ferguson. Johson will decision Diaz without any problems.

Diaz is coming in this fight prepared and focused on winning. I think he will win by submission.
