Stipe fought smart and put on a good performance, Roy on the other hand didn't fought smart and his cardio didn't helped him.  I remeber dielegende arguing with me not long ago telling me how Nelson doesn't have a bad cardio. this fight doesn't help Nelson negotiating his new contract with the UFC

He's on his TUF contract $24k+$24, I'd speculate a win would have earned him an $80k+$80k; does that sound about right? I still think he deserves a pay bump from the TUF contract, but I dunno whether Dana would wanna do that.

Underneath Dana's ****-talking about Roy, the fact remains that he is a really popular fighter, especially with casual fans.  This loss hurts Roy's bargaining position, but I think the UFC will still try to re-sign him, and it won't be a complete low-ball offer.  It just won't be a giant contract like Roy might have been able to force them into with a win.
