Hendo has a recent loss to a borderline top 10 WW, having him number 1 p4p is nothing short of delusional.

Seriously on the Consensus ranking Jon Fitch is ahead of Nick Diaz haha. I know he's high on my list but c'mon. He has a Draw and 12 second KO loss in his last 2 fights.

Seriously, when will people stop fellating Fitch?

I have not felt Fitch to be in the top 10 p4p in almost two years. And yes, it does surprise me to see Fitch on the STILL top ten. What is this, Yahoo Sports rankings?

He may be a fantastic wrestler and he may have grinded out his victories, but seriously, with a draw and now a KO los to his record, it's time to let it go people...

Im pretty sure theres still a lot of people that dont update their rankings and thats why the consensus is like that. I have Fitch on my list because I forgot about him there. I only really update the top.

GSP falls off the list because he won't be active. With that being said, it amazes me how 99% of Tapologists have Jon Jones ahead of Jose Aldo. They both finish fights, but Jose's been doing it against the best in the division for a longer time.

How does everyone define pound-for-pound? I need to know so that I can understand everyone else's rankings, because, frankly, I don't get how some have made their P4P lists. Can someone please define what they think P4P means?

I rank finishers ahead of decisioners.  For me two guys with similar records and one has a majority of decisions will not be ranked as high as someone who is decisively putting an end to their fights.

@Lopati With all due respect, that's one of the most ignorant comments I've ever heard. A finisher shouldn't be put on a pedestal over one who doesn't finish, if you think that's the case then you're probably just some ignorant American fan who's hungry for blood thirst and doesn't understand the athletes quite as much as a real MMA fan would.

I rank dominance ahead of all. Georges St-Pierre is one of the most dominant champions ever, if you're not gonna remove him because of inactivity, then at least have the respect to put him in the top 2, where he belongs.

If Fighter A beats Fighter D in a 3 minute 1st round KO and Fighter B beats Fighter C in a decision of 30-26, I'd definitely rank Fighter B over Fighter A (if they have identical records of course). In fact, I'd probably do the same if it was a 30-27 decision. Dominance over 15 minutes vs. dominance over 3, you tell me what wins.

I don't think Jon Jones finishing Lyoto Machida should result in him being placed above GSP because he did not dominate.

THUMB DOWN MY COMMENT ALL YOU WANT. I know I'm right and if you think otherwise, then go watch some human pit brawl in the basement of a bar.

In actuality Anik, what you just said is about a million times more ignorant that what Lopati said. And I'm quite certain that the whole site agrees and understands why.

@anik, everything else equal, of course you would rank the guy who is finishing in dominating fashion higher. usually not everything is equal, but sometimes it's an obvious way to compare.  jon jones obliterated shogun, while henderson eked out decision over shogun.  that's one of the best pieces of information to look at when placing jones ahead of hendo.

and as far as it being an "american" thing?  i hope everyone in america thumbs you down.

Anik, let me ask you a question.

I put down two fighters in front of you and all you know are their records:  both guys are 8-0; one guy with 8 decisions and one guy with 8 finishes, they have faced equivalent competition also.  Who do you pick to win the fight???

A majority of the world will pick the Finisher.

I didn't thumbs down you post, not sure what that was about.

Zarog asked how other members view P4P rankings and I answered him.  Decisions wins are determined by judges, a finisher determines the outcome of his fight leaving no question.  I can not put a guy that holds someone down for 3 or 5 rounds ahead of a guy that leaves no question.  that is just me though.

Even though Jones hasn't fought below 205, I still think he's the best pound for pound.  Silva gets 2nd because he's been able to go to 205 and win as well as locked down the entire middleweight division.  GSP drops due to inactivity.  Depending on how Rashad does tomorrow will probably decide if I move him past Hendo or drop.

BTW--I designed the other end of the spectrum for basically the worst fighters/should be cut list.  If anyone would like to add to it I would GREATLY appreciate it!  http://www.tapology.com/rankings/256-most-likely-to-be-cut
