As much as I dislike St. Pierre I feel he will dominate Diaz and win by decision.

Bad news for Johny.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1497765-dana-white-rory-macdonald-or-carlos-condit-could-get-next-title-shot?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=mma

Looks like Dana is not committed to Hendricks at all.  Whatsoever.  Even if Johny beats Ellenberger in fashionable style, he might still be passed over.  If Condit vs. MacDonald is more impressive, one of them might get the next shot.

Dana is now singing a very different tune.  I really feel for Johny.  He must be feeling so frustrated and exasperated.

^This bothers me MacDonald doesn't even want a shot and they keep pushing him to take it even before he was a contender. Maybe if Hendricks joins Tristar, becomes butt buddies with GSP they adopt a small African child together and refuse to fight eachother Dana might want to see them go at it.

MacDonald not begging for a title shot is a good sign for me. It shows that he is mature for his age and realizes he may need a few more fights.

Gustafsson fended off title shot questions for a while now, and look how well he has done. When he feels confident, he'll ask for a title shot, no question.

Or it could be as simple as he doesn't feel he deserves one, and there is a point to be made that he doesn't.

@amp112 MacDonald isn't begging for a title shot because he doesn't want to fight GSP. If anyone else had the belt I bet he would be asking for a title shot.

MacDonald isn't asking for the shot because GSP's the champ. If anyone else was champ he'd be asking for it, it has nothing to do with maturity, Rory is confident enough to feel he can beat anyone. Not saying he's immature, I think he's very mature, but I find it hard to believe he "realizes he may need a few more fights". I'm pretty sure he believes he can beat anyone in the division.

As for Gustafsson has already stated that he's definitely ready for the shot, he just doesn't want to remain inactive while Jones and Sonnen duke it out so he asked for a fight in the meantime ...

Did you guys see the press conference? Georges said he didn't like the idea of Johnny Hendricks challenging his title because he thinks Hendricks lost to Koscheck. And I do to.

Maybe another reason Rory isn't asking for a title shot is because he's actually smart enough to realize that he hasn't earned one...

I think there are several reasons why Rory is very patient in asking for a title shot in WW.

1. He's sill only 23.
2. GSP is his friend and training partner.
3. He knows he's not ready to beat GSP as of the moment.
4. There are still tons of great, lucrative fights awaiting him.

Hendricks, Fitch, Diaz, Ellenberger, Koscheck, Story,
Kampmann, Kim, Maia, Marquardt, Bahadurzada, Simpson, Erick Silva, Alves.

Within 2 years time, he will be 25, and we can take the first 6 names off the board.  By then, he will be asking himself the hard questions.  Guaranteed.

But for now, time is on his side.

@bill, I agree. Rory is still very young, there's no need for him to hurry. Also, if he fights GSP who is his friend and mentor, he just lost his best training partner for his camp. Another reason I think he's waiting is that GSP will move to middle weight soon and Rory knows it.

I don't see why not. Even in a fight with Silva, if he takes him down, he wins.

Rory will have to fight GSP if he wants to be champion. GSP aint going to 185 at all. He knows Silva will end him, and he will stay at 170. If he doesnt want to fight GSP, then he needs to go to Bellator. This whole "he is my friend" ******** needs  to stop. If you wanna be champion in the best division/organization in the world. You need to be ready to fight anybody. Im pretty sure that when GSP beats Diaz, and Hendricks, and they offered him a title shot, he would take it.

It's not out of the question that Rory would decide to move up to MW.  True, he would be a little smallish, but he still would have the skills to hold his own, I think.

Or . . . God forbid if he ever decided to move down to LW.

Rory has spoken as to whether or not he would fight GSP if given the chance.

I think Rory's a little starstruck honestly. I would be too if I was training with one of my favorite fighters. I have the feeling he may not feel the same way in the future.
