rua can take more punishment than anyone. then he comes back and beats you. i'm taking rua with a rare third round KO by me. just think he will wear down the swede. i think gustafson will hit and slide but it will only work for soo long.

Gustafsson is going to use his hand speed and footwork to pick Shogun apart just like Jones did. Did you see how Thiago Silva dominated Brandon Vera? Did you see how Gustafsson dominated Thiago Silva? Shogun didn't do anything close to what Thiago Silva did to Brandon Vera. Gustafsson can eat powerful punches, as we have seen. He is going to eat Shogun's bombs and then drop a gassed Shogun for the finish

I'm with mayhem Guss has too much reach and too much hand speed. Rua hasn't looked in shape since the Machida fight. He will gas and when he does I think Gus finishes him. If he can't finish he wins a lopsided decision.

Gustafsson is the future of the division but Shogun has proven that you need a bat to knock him out by taking rights from Hendo for 5 rounds. Gustafsson by decision unless he gets a stoppage.

But why should Gustafsson be favored when he couldn't even make it into the second round in his only attempt against a Top 10 LHW, who wasn't even a Top 10 LHW at the time, while Shogun has two first-round T/KOs of Top 10 LHWs, including one in a title fight?

As they say at the racetrack, Shogun holds a huge class edge.

I wouldn't say Davis was his only good fight. After that loss he joined camps with Davis to tighten up his wrestling. Since then he dominated a decorated wrestler, the janitor, and abused Thiago Silva who IMO is better than Brandon Vera. The reason he is favored is Rua has looked out of shape in his last 2season and Gust has looked like a killer. MMA is a what have yoi done for me lately sport.

this card is so f'n good looking that it makes me want to barf. that being said, i'm not so sure about the comparisons among shogun v vera, vera v silva, and silva v gustaffson. vera looked motivated as all hell and i don't think he's being given credit for that here. yea maybe shogun didn't make it look easy like we thought he might, but he still fought a very tough fight and got the finish. gustaffson looks great right now, but i think shogun will test him out on the feet a bit then decide to take the fight to the ground where he'll wear on gustaffson. he might get a sub or tko, but i think he'll have another hard fought fight and get a decision
