Making an NHL only thread, because I'm sick of seeing the Peyton Manning thread riddled with hockey talk.

So fellow Canadians, REJOICE!

EDIT: And Americans too, we know some of you love hockey as well.

Did you guys see that trade today? Bruins trade Dougie Hamilton to Calgary for draft picks? Haha, wow. They gave up their franchise defenseman for nothing compared to what he was. Should be an exciting weekend.

Yeah, they also just traded Milan Lucic to the Kings for a prospect and draft pick. ******* what in the ****? Being a Bruins fan is enraging a lot of times.

I feel your pain as an Isles fan, remembering the whole Moulson/Vanek debacle. At least we've turned things around since then.

But at least Lucic was expected to be traded and the Bruins got a nice return for him. That Hamilton trade was unexpected and frankly inexcusable though from a Bruins standpoint.

The Bruins are still going to be paying half of Lucic's salary though, but yes, trading Dougie Hamilton is worse.

That part I didn't hear. For your sake and every Bruins fan, you guys better have something up your sleeve tonight because as of now, there doesn't seem like there's any method to Sweeney's madness.

I wanted Lucic gone. Hamilton I'll wait and see. Could be another Seguin trade.

Was reading the Bloody Elbow predictions, and found this pretty funny:

"Mookie AlexanderSteve Bosse has had his UFC debut denied twice already. All that pent-up anger waiting in the penalty box has got him ready to get out there and CRUSH a fool. The cage will turn into an ice rink. Bosse can skate. Santos can't. Mike Emrick will replace Jon Anik in the booth and talk about Bosse wailing on Santos while Pierre McGuire interviews Bosse's corner about some inane nonsense. Steve Bosse by TKO (and Game Misconduct), round 1."

That's a scary trade for the Isles and the rest of the Metro Division. And add in that the Blue Jackets just got Saad...ouch.

Pretty solid signings by the Wings.

I hope the Isles do more in the way of acquisitions than just Greiss and finally signing Petrov. I wouldn't mind trading for Patrick Sharp for a couple of seasons until Michael Dal Colle is ready to take the first line LW slot.

We saw the trades the Pens and Jackets have made to improve in the division. The Pens weren't too far behind the Isles last year, and the Jackets were riddled with injuries the whole season.

Adding Kessel is good, but it's not going to solve their problems. Pittsburgh was one of the worst defensive teams in the NHL. They ranked 23rd in the NHL for goals against/pg and around the same for shots against, which tells you they spend too much time in their end because there are no puck moving defencemen besides Letang.

And this is all with Fleury having a GOOD year. Need to bolster that backend.

I think Detroit did the best adding Green at a great cost and adding depth in Richards. Some good young guys coming up, I like where they are heading.

@jitz, yup your're right. Adding Kessel will really help our offensive productivity (especially if Crosby or Mean Gene can't stay healthy), but defensively is where we struggled. At least our offense will be prettay, prettay, prettay good.

http://www.todaysslapshot.com/from-the-ice/new-quebec-nordiques-could-be-western-conference-team/

Looks like the Quebec Nordiques are coming back to the NHL (via expansion), albeit in the Western Conference for their first season.  Still it should be fun times for all.  Can't wait until they eventually get realigned to the Eastern Conference and play in the Atlantic Division.  :D

Oh and I guess Las Vegas got a team as well via Expansion bid.  Because expanding into the sun belt has been so successful so far with teams like the Panthers, the Thrashers, Coyotes, etc.

Pumped for QC, it is my favourite city I have ever been too and this will only make it better.

Here are some logos that I thought were interesting...

Classic, minimalist look

A louder logo and jersey; I enjoy this one better to be honest (ignore the Reebok stick). It uses the fort and chateau as symbols for the team; while the snowy owl is the official bird of Quebec City.

Expansion went great for the NHL in the 90s so lets do it again.

@boredoms  That's because most of the expansion franchises in the 90s (other than the Ottawa Senators) were based in the Sun Belt.
