I figured Tapology needs an official NFL thread, for all talks related to the NFL. Sick of seeing random topics on the Peyton Manning thread.

So please discuss the NFL here, thanks everyone.

Dolphins need to use this years draft to get guards and receivers and try and position themselves for Barkley next year.  They can survive a season with Moore as QB.

THey are making it extremely frustrating to be a fan though.  Bring Back Jimmy Johnson.

Yeah and I can't see Alex Smith using Miami for anything more than leverage unless Manning does choose the Niners.

Miami's options are limited, they might be forced to reach for Tannehill at pick 8 unless they want to trade for Tebow or Hasselbeck depending where Manning signs.

The free agent market now tops out with guys like Leinart, Clemens, etc if they can't get Smith.

They need to stay far away from all those losers.  Ride out the season with Moore and draft Barkley!.!.!.!.

Tannehill will probably be the route they intend to go though, since they brought sherman in as OC and he was Tannehill's college coach.  still a horrendous idea.

The organization is due for a make over in the front office, they have become stagnant and have zero direction.

Alex Smith is amazing, I loved watching him play this year. I hope he stays the QB for the 49ers, I really don't want to see Peyton with the Niners.

EDIT: Tannehill at 8th? Don't you think that's kind of a reach? I think he could be available in the beginning of the 2nd round, I THINK.

I think all QBs in this draft after Luck are a reach.  Definitely don't want the Dolphins to draft a single one of them.

Including RG3? Even if he's a product of the spread offense, he's still athletically gifted and intelligent. He's got bust potential though, like Cam Newton.

But we know what happened with that.

being a good athlete doesn't make you a winning QB in the NFL.  I am holding judgment until i see him take a couple snaps, but for me he is too risky.

No it doesn't, but it helps. And he has proven his passing ability somewhat in college.

Jamarcus russell, matt leinart, tim couch, Brady quinn, jimmy clausen all proved their ability in college but it didn't translate to the League.

@Anik, yeah Tannehill at 8 is a reach for Miami as he's 2nd round talent but if they don't take him there then Cleveland probably will at 22 or the Skins at 38 at the latest (Miami's next pick after 8 is 40).  So it's either grab a QB (if they grade him out at the third best in the draft) at #8 or try to package picks together to trade just ahead of Cleveland at 22.  I don't have much confidence in Miami to get anything right though.

Even the media has a bias against the Fins front office.  The Niners still have a 3 year $24mil offer on the table to Smith (unless they pulled it during the Manning decision) and it was considered by analysts to be a good contract for a guy that led a team to 13-3 but now that the Dolphins are negotiating with Alex Smith at $8mil per year they are 'grasping at straws, just trying to overpay for a quarterback so they can say they got one'.  They're both offering $8 mil per year but it's a good decision for the Niners and grasping at straws and overpaying for the Dolphins.  Don't understand any difference there, but I guess that's why it's funny.

EDIT: btw, Hoyer of New England is also a free agent but restricted.  If a team offered him a Flynn type contract and he signed, the Patriots could either match the offer and keep him or let him walk and get a 2nd round pick in return.  Who knows if the Patriots would match a 3 year $26 if they think they'll get 3 more years out of Brady.  That'd be an expensive backup.  Otherwise he'll be the Flynn of next year; the top unrestricted young backup in the league.

Jacksonville has Gabbert, i doubt they'd jump on it. I thought about that too.

Tebow to the jags would be cool, could revitalize a franchise thats fading fast. Ya they have Gabbert but he didnt exactly light it up in his opportunities last year. Would make them a lot of money with ticket sales and jersey sales being that is where hes from. If he doesnt go there he will probably go somewhere where they will just use him in a single package, and not as a starter. Could be a great compliment to an offense like maybe the Packers or Patriots

Apparently Jacksonville already has more Tebow jerseys than Jaguars jerseys.

I would love to see Tebow with the Patriots (if I didn't hate 'em so much), I bet Belichick could do something awesome with him. Imagine his stat line...

200 Passing Yards, 45.9% completion rate, 3TDs 1INT, 250 Receiving Yards, 1 Receiving TD, 400 Rushing Yards, 2 Rushing TDs, 18 Tackles, 3 Pass Deflections, 1 Pick

****tttt
