State Rep. Matthew Lesser, a Democrat from Middletown, has introduced legislation hat would open the door for Connecticut to join 46 other states that have legalized MMA, a sport that has moved from the edges to the mainstream in less than a decade.
MMA's fan base overlaps with that of professional wrestling. Lesser said Connecticut-based World Wrestling Entertainment is lobbying against the MMA bill.
But WWE spokesman Robert Zimmerman said via email that the company is not opposed to "this or anything else the state wants to do with regards to sports or entertainment."

Slimeballs. Wrestling people are slimeballs and boxing people are slimeballs. How about they focus attention on trying to figure out why wrestling and boxing are getting its ass kicked, rather than trying to stop MMA regulation. As if they're really going to stop it for more than a year or two. They are wasting time and money and being *******s.

WWE's headquarters is in Connecticut, and as earlier stated there is an overlapping of fan bases, it's purely a money move. The executives at WWE do not oppose MMA on any moral grounds, as I am pretty sure they showed interest in buying the UFC in the 90s (could have been just a rumour). Let's hope for Connecticut's sake that WWE doesnt have enough influnece to successfully lobby the State government, but who knows they are a billion dollar industry.
