With Rashad having his chance against Johnny BONES finally on the way would this be the ending to the "BONES ERA" ??
With so many fighters looking as exciting from other weight classes is there anyone really out there to dismantle
the LHW champs crown?
-Any weight class

MW to LHW is a 20 pound difference, whereas LHW to HW can be up to a 60 pound difference. That's 60 pounds of size, strength, power, you name it. Anderson was able to succeed in LHW not only because he's incredibly talented but because his opponents had comparable size. The same is not the case with Bones, I think he relies on his strength a lot more than Anderson, Anderson uses his undisputed striking to win fights. Bones uses his wrestling, which relies a lot more on size, an advantage he'll lose if he moves to HW. Yes Bones will have longer reaches than all of them, yes they will all be of similar height but the strength levels cannot be compared. Pat Barry would break Bones' leg with one leg kick.
The only way I see Bones having success at HW is if he gains muscle, if he can walk around at 245 of muscle in HW I believe he will be a consistent top 10 fighter, at least. If he goes into HW like he is now, I don't see him beating anyone in the top 5, to say the least.

as said earlier, people have this idea that there's this big barrier between these divisions, with men on one side and boys on the other. it's just not the case.
here's LHW jones and HW arlovski. who's bigger?

that would be amazing... except pat barry isn't remotely in jones's league. this would be a complete mismatch.

@Gregory, that's a very good point and I don't understand why some people believe there's some huge difference as if all the LHWs weighed exactly 205 and the Heavies were all around 265. True, if Alistair Overeem stood next to Rashad Evans, you'd probably see a big difference, but those are rare cases (and btw Overeem himself used to be a LHW).
And to further illustrate the point, here's a Light Heavyweight Forrest Griffin next to a Heavyweight Roy Nelson.
And for the sake of comparison here's the same Forrest (who is considered to be a large LHW) next to the long time Middleweight Anderson Silva, who never had problems with making weight (and used to fight at 167 in Pride). Does it really look like there's much of a difference there?

I'm sure Jones would beat any of the mid-card HW's, but I think he'd have trouble at the top. I don't see him smashing guys like Cain, JDS, Reem, or even Mir.

MWs walk around between 210-220 (230 in Anderson's case). LHWs walk around 220-235. Heavyweights walk around 230-280. If Jones is gonna fight the top competition in the HW division, he'll need to deal with monsters like Alistair Overeem, Frank Mir and Shane Carwin, not Andrei Arlovski.
And to add on that, not only do you have to match their size if you want to be a successful wrestler, you gotta match their strength as well. Jones won't bully Overeem, Mir and Carwin against the cage, he won't be able to wrestle any of them. And it's not like he'll outstrike any of them either (he might outstrike Mir, MIGHT), so what does that leave him?
The fact of the matter is Bones won't be a HW champ without growing first.
