I have started to notice the longer I am on this site that there is a severe UFC fighter bias.  If a guy hasn't been in the UFC his whole career a majority of you seem to think that they suck.  I am curious as to why that is.  Obviously there are guys in the UFC that have no business being there and there are guys outside of the UFC that are successful.

It reminds me of when WEC was brought into the UFC fold a majority of the MMA community of the thought they had no business being there and that the UFC fighters would walk thru them, well how has that worked out.

Just because a guy is not in the UFC does not mean he is not a top level fighter and would get massacred by the almighty UFC guys.

What does everyone else think about this bias towards guys in the UFC over fighters in other ORGS?

The best part about that comment is this:  My bad I guess I just assumed that referring to him as the #2 LW in the world and the Strikeforce LW Champ that everyone would know who Gil Martinez is. Oh well I guess that's what I get for assuming lol, I'm used to making a ass out of myself, however I apologize for making one and of U as well:)

Nick Diaz is going to get to prove (if he wants to) that he is one of the top, if not the best, WW in the world now that he is in the UFC. He couldn't do that in SF, EliteXc, or even Dream, in my opinion. That's what the perceived bias comes down to -- guys outside of the UFC aren't consistently tested. It's not their fault; they just don't have the type of competition that's generally available in the UFC.

He must cut a TON of weight.  That's why he's so diesel at lightweight I guess.

@Dakej He walks around at 290 and cuts weight in 3 hours.

@Blackwork Well isn't Gil Martinez the consensus pound for pound greatest ever? He doesn't fight in the UFC.

@Anik I realize I walked into some sort of joke, but is it really that funny lol? I mean you made my post your signature,  could you at least explain to me what I'm missing? Because I really thought that poster didn't realize who I was referring to.

@rorschach:  Strikeforce's LW Champ is Gilbert MELENDEZ, not Martinez.  Gil Martinez is a boxer and boxing trainer who is not on anyone's P4P list.

He was also a tragic hero to the Columbians in the early 20th century.

I think what was hilarious was how you were so convinced you were right and you were actually being condescending at one point by saying that you made an ass out of people because they don't know who he is.

But damn it, I wanna take this to THE MOON!

When does Gil Martinez get his UFC title shot against the winner of Freddie Anker and Bender Hendoson?

Gil Martinez doesn't want to come to the UFC. His training camp is with M1-Global. But it's alright, he has a record of over 9000 and 0.

O lol! Wow what a ******* goof lol, man I'm a ******* moron sometimes. Anyways no @Anik I wasn't calling anyone a ass or saying they were a ass. I had stated that I a "assumed" he knew who I was talking about, and I was referring to the old saying "When you assume something, you make a ASS out of U and ME." Just a stupid joke on my part I wasn't trying to be condescending to anyone.

Well that was a pretty big brain fart/**** up on my part, so flame away, I earned it lol.
