Creating this thread as I would enjoy getting an indication of the level of skills of One Championship MMA athlete Stamp Fairtex.

I would like to make this brief however I tend to go on a long tangent so you have been warned.

Road to Double Champ

  • Debut against 1-2 Rashi Shinde, both losses prior were first-round stoppages.
  • Won the Kickboxing championship against the first champion ever Kai Ting Chuang (17-2 Kickboxing).
  • Won the inaugural Muay Thai championship against Janet Todd (32-7). Multiple amateur Muay Thai championships.
  • Defended Muay Thai title against Alma Juniku,. The only record I could find was 24-4 with 2 world Muay Thai titles. Fun fact Alma Juniku lost to Weili Zhang in kickboxing at 17.

From my understanding, Rich Franklin was scouting for talent and came across Stamp training. One was looking for young female talent and Stamp was exactly what they were looking for. Her debut was a hit as One promoted her as a young prodigy along side a highlight reel first round KO(that they will never stop posting till the end of time). In a space of a year she went from One debut MMA debut to winning two world titles with the promotion in two different sports at the age of 21. From a marketing standpoint this was amazing for the One championship promotion as at the time being a double champ was what promotions were using to market their organization as having elite fighters. Conor, DC, Nunus and Henry Cejudo was all double champs already by the end of 2019 and One having a young two-sport simultaneous champ was a brilliant move as she was marketed as an elite striker but her young and vibrate personality made her a good popular attraction fighter.

1-0 MMA , One Kickboxing Champion, and One Muay Thai Champion

Road to MMA title

  • Won 4-0 Asha Roka, (2-4 total record of her opponents with both wins coming from one opponent) all her wins coming two years before her fight with Stamp in 2017. In the two years she did not compete she went 3-0 in boxing. After the fight, she went 0-3 in ONE leaving her with a 4-3 MMA record.
  • Won 5-4 Bi Ngyuyen, Killer Bee last fight before one was a losing fight for the KOTC title. She was 1-1 in ONE MMA and came off a huge win over Puja Tomar in Muay Thai.
  • Won 4-3 Puja Tomar, Tomar was coming off the loss to Bi in Muay Thai and was 1-2 in ONE MMA.  Fun fact she rematched Bi Ngyuyen outside One and would win via 2nd round stoppage.

After a very successful run in her first year with the promotion Stamp Camp had a new goal of becoming a three-sport world champ. However, Unlike the kickboxing and Muay Thai divisions in One MMA there was already a semi-established roster of women that Stamp would need to go through. One has rankings now however back then they did not and most of the fights were put together through hype to help build the organization. One wouldn’t want to throw Stamp to the wolves immediately as this would damage their investment(ex Sage Northcutt) so taking a slower approach and developing her MMA skillset was the best route to take. One matched her up with semi-developed MMA fighters that would make fun of fights and it worked as her fight with Bi Nguyen was seen at the time as a good brawling fight that I swear to this day One use in their promo videos. I remember at this time when the comment sections started to fill up with One fans speaking of a fight with her fighting for the belt however the coming year would be a sharp decline.

4-0 MMA, One Kickboxing Champion, and One Muay Thai Champion

Worse year of a career that hasn’t started.

  • Lost Kickboxing title to Janet Todd, Rematch from the first loss via split decision.
  • Won 3-0 Sunisa Srisen, One MMA debut was 3-0 against a fighter with a combined record of 0-0.
  • Lost Muay Thai title to Allycia Hellen Rodrigues (30-5 Muay Thai)
  • Lost to 12-4 Alyona Rassohyna , Stamp argued she didn’t tap.

This must be one of the worse years of any champion in a space of a year she went from being undefeated in MMA and a two-sport champ to losing both her titles and having the embarrassing final round “tap”. It felt like she was on top for a while however her decline was so fast it considering she won her debut in mid-2018 and loss her first MMA fight at the start of 2021 in just 3 years she went from a no-name Thailand fighter to a global Asian star and now another contender. Her two world title fights were entertaining and competitive however it was clear that her mind was not in the sport. Leading up most of the talk was Stamp competing in MMA for that third world title however we have seen it many times when you are the champ and forget about the hungry time catches up to you. This is the exact issue I feel Stamp had coming into these title bouts. Nothing to be ashamed of though many fighters dream of having a single world title let alone 2 in different sports. The Alyona Rassohyna fight was something on its own as you just felt bad by the end for stamp. She just loss her second title trying to rinse the taste of that last loss out of her mouth. Stamp at the time was ranked 5th as part of One new ranking system. One gave her a winnable fight as Rassohyna record of 12-4 was very padded with wins over very inexperienced fighters and it showed in the fight as Stamp was winning most of the fight until that last 30 seconds. With less than 10 seconds to go, Rassohyna had stamp in a guillotine choke and if she held on, she would have easily won the fight via decision however for some reason she tapped. Stamp has said she didn’t mean it as she only tapped once before the ref pulled them apart however it is of no fault of the ref as that was a very clear tap if viewed by anyone.

5-1 MMA

Grand Prix saga

  • Won 13-4 Alyona Rassohyna, prior to fighting with one she won two fights of opponents 7-7 and 4-4. Other than that, she has not won a single fight over an opponent with more than 2 wins in MMA. The first round of grand prix
  • Won 6-1 Julie Mezabarba, was 1-0 in ONE MMA, and before her ONE debut she never faced an opponent with more than 3 wins. The second round of grand prix
  • Won 7-1 Ritu Phogat, Besides a controversial loss to Bi Nguyen she has undefeated in ONE MMA. Finals of grand prix
  • Loss 10-2 Angela Lee, MMA Title fight Stamp first uncontested MMA loss.

After a terrible start of the year stamp returned later in the year with a unanimous win over Alyona in a rematch as part of the newly announced One Championship Womans grand prix. The grand prix was an amazing idea to get new blood for the champ Angela Lee as she kind of was seen as levels above the current talent and with her going on to fight for double champ status in flyweight it would be a good setup as on her way back to her division a fight with a winner of the grand prix would be amazing from a marketing perspective. Many people felt as though Stamp or Seo Hee Ham was the clear favourite as when looking at the level of competition, they were clearly better well-rounded MMA fighters, especially Seo Hee Ham. However, Seo Hee Ham pulled out after her win and Stamp took on the replacement in Julie Mezabarba who is not near of the level of Seo Hee Ham but Stamp got the win and the finals was set up with Ritu Phogat. The finals of the grand prix were a fun spectacle as most had Stamp winning but via armbar to a heavy ground base opponent was not on the cards for most. With this grand prix win it was reassurance finally that Stamp is a real MMA fighter. Before many only looked at Stamp as a good striker however public opinion changed after this win and with a title fight over the horizon it looked as if One has finally gotten Stamp where she needs to be. Unfortunately, the fight did not go her way and like most Angela Lee fights in the division she was one step ahead of stamp and got the RNC finish in the second.

8-1 MMA, Women Atomweight world grand prix champion

The comeback

  • Won 8-2 Jihin Radzuan, Former amateur MMA champion has wins over 2 MMA fighters Stamp has fought 7-2 in One MMA.
  • Won Anna Jaroonsak in Kickboxing, late replacement bout as fights were changed up a day before.

The loss in the title bout was not as devastating as the losses she suffered prior. She lost to be best of her division no shame in that and with grand prix in MMA she shouldn’t feel too bad about the world title loss to Angela Lee.  She faced Jihin Radzuan in her first fight back after losing the title fight which surprisingly besides the title fight, she just fought on paper is probably one of Stamps toughest opponents. Stamp got the W and was in an angle to fight in a super fight with Anissa Meksen however like the Nate Diaz vs Khamzat fight the card was shuffled at the last minute. We got to see Stamp fight a kickboxing bout with a very young Anna Jaroonsak and win via split decision.   9-2 MMA  So as my initial statement how good is Stamp Fairtex very difficult to say as she has faced good MMA fighters however, she is currently 25 years old her best years are still to come so we could see even more growth. Currently, I feel as though she is somewhat of a top 15 in the UFC. She is very skilled in striking however she still feels very nervous on the ground she looks decent but often she finds herself in awkward positions. I feel as though she can beat many contenders however that elite level of Angela Lee or the UFC Top 10 is something she is not ready yet.    Love watching her compete and can’t wait to watch her develop her MMA game more.
I now ask the question again to all One Championship viewers and MMA fans how good is the One championship star Stamp Fairtex.
