Logistically, they also have to factor in infrastructure, hotel accommodations and a modern arena. The head of their international division for Europe, middle east and Africa touched on this last year. A few locations with such an arena and overall setup to host an international event are Rwanda and Senegal. 
If and when they go to Africa, it may not be in a country that people suspect. Places like Nigeria have high crime, corruption and such a divide between the rich and poor that it doesn't make sense.

Sure but the main issue with the current glove isn't grappling, it's eye pokes. With a glove that requires force to open rather than force to close it will require active effort for fighters to splay their fingers.

They for sure will go to SA. Not only can DDP headline it and it probably has the best regional scene of all African countries but it's the biggest economy in Africa as well. Just raw GDP it's edged out sligthly by Egypt and Nigeria but much better per capita income than those two. Egypt is too close to the middle east where they are well covered already. Nigeria like I mentioned earlier would be the other choice that I personally would prefer but I don't think the MMA scene there is very big.

Crime and corruption is whatever, the UFC is already in bed with various oil despots in the middle east which is about as corrupt as it gets, didn't have any issue with holding events in Russia either before covid and the Ukraine war. As for crime they should be able to get enough security for one arena and one hotel and have fighter stay at those venues only at the very least.
Like everywhere else there's rich parts to those countries that will either have low crime or massive police/private security presence.

So is in the little presentation for the new gloves they said that in the old ones, the foam used around the fingers was very stiff and prevented fighters' fingers from resting in a more natural relaxed position.  The new gloves use a softer more flexible foam that allow fingers to rest curved downward.  RE: eye pokes.

Also, new padding where there wasn't any before on the sides that cushion hammer fists.  Seams are on the inside of the palm so no more eye abrasions, and the fit around the wrist is more secure and tight so opponents can't dig in/glove grab.

Yes I know, but the input of how the gloves will affect all aspects of fighting must also be taken into consideration

Durden just tweet and deleted that he is still on 303. Not sure what’s going on there 

Mcgregor said him vs chandler is still on for June 29. Who knows what to think at this point but that’s what he’s saying

I think PFL will get Parnasse. If Doumbé and Lazy King are anything to go by they seem to be paying top dollar for French prospects.

If I'm reading it right they're also making the new gloves lighter. That's probably in a bid to get more KOs. Less padding = more impact as long as fighters are not also more afraid to hurt their hands than before. There's a sweet spot to be found there between having protective gloves and going bareknuckle.

Yes you read correctly.  But from what I remember of the press announcement the guy from the Performance Institute (Duncan French I think his name is) said that in their research/analysis the new gloves didn't have an impact on rate of KOs and also made it a point to mention that they didn't want equipment to play a role in something like that.  Not sure if everyone will believe that though  😉

I mean there is no mystery is there? If fighters throw just as often and as hard as before and with equal regard/disregard to the angle of impact, in other words if all other variables are kept the same, you'd expect more KOs with less of a cushion.
What could prevent that is if fighters feel consciously or subconsciously less confident in throwing shots in certain spots.
Doesn't have to be much on either end, we're talking outlier cases that are just on the cusp but that statistically over time has some sort of impact on the numbers.

Btw did the research include full-on fights then you think? What fights/promotion used the new gloves?. Because I fail to see how they could account for all the real world variables in a computer simulation.

I'm under the impression that research into glove design was a bit of a long drawn process with the PI and the manufacturer, and that they did their due diligence when considering what changes to make.  However, the only real fight-condition testing these gloves received were the 10 weeks of DWCS 2023.  They used the gloves (or a prototype) then, and just kept it secret.
