@nortis well i would say Werdum's BJJ is quite a bit better then Mir's but i mean we will see what happens.
Nelson seems like a cool guy and if he starts taking MMA more serious i defiantly think he can be a top ten guy in the HW division.

If Werdum beats Nelson.. I think Mir vs. Werdum should happen.

I agree. I think Mir would probably get the knock out though.
Werdum vs Nog also would be interesting.

I think Nelson is too tough to be submitted or KO'd, but I don't think he can keep up with Werdum.

Fights don't start on the ground, you gotta bring 'em to the ground.

Roy Nelson's got a striking advantage, Fabricio's wrestling is ... not good and if he pulls guard, I think Roy could defend himself fairly efficiently. Plus it's not like he'll stay on the ground with Mr. Heavy Abu Dhabi.

I don't see how Werdum can win this fight. Nelson has much better striking and he is black belt in BJJ and has never been submitted.

Nelson's striking is being overrated here. Sure he's got heavy hands, but he doesn't throw combos and he's fairly slow.

fglop is right on the spot. Since when Nelson got K1 striking? Since he KO'd 3 people in the UFC not known for their chins? He's got a durable chin but he will not outstrike Werdum. Especially since Werdum striking has been improving lately.

Nelson doesn't have K1 level striking, LOL, but that doesn't mean he isn't a solid striker.  He has solid power and underrated defense (he's very, very effective at using his forearms and elbows to deflect incoming strikes).  He also uses the cage effectively (cutting off, clinching, etc) and measures distance very well.

While he struggled big time against JDS, he's also given JDS his toughest fight in the UFC.

On the feet, I think the threat of power + his aggressiveness will be enough to beat Verdum standing.  Nelson also has the better wrestling of the two, although I think that's nearly a toss up.  I believe that Nelson is good enough on the ground to survive against Verdum, if he's not reckless.

Normally, I would say Nelson by decision... but I have a wierd feeling that Verdum might come in underestimating Nelson's power (after surviving against Overeem and submitting Fedor) and I'm going to say he gets caught in the first with Nelson's usual suspect (overhand right). All that beng said, I wouldn't be surprised to see it going to a decision with either man coming out ahead.

I don't get where all this "Werdum can't strike" stuff comes from he seemed like he was getting the better of the exchanges against Allistair whos striking it way better then Nelson's is.
