Alright folks,

As you might know I'm Tapology Boxing editor. I know the majority of you guys are here for MMA, so was I originally. But for the last year or 2 there is a little more interest in Boxing on the site.

So here's a place to talk boxing.

Greatest What if in Boxing History

About time for me to post a video on Salvador Sanchez.  1 of Mexico's greatest, in the conversation for greatest Featherweight ever and all before tragically losing his life in a car crash at the age of 23.

At only 23 he had packed in a legendary career. 46-0, 10 Title defences as the Undisputed no.1 Featherweight defeating several Hall of Fame boxers including maybe Africa's best ever Azumah Nelson, Danny Little Red Lopez x2 and the fight that kick started the great rivalry between Mexico and Puerto Rico vs Wilfredo Bazooka Gomez!!  If you don't know who Salvador Sanchez is and you like boxing you need to find out.
If you don't believe me, how about Roy Jones Jr calling him the greatest he's ever seen.  Mike Tyson, Sugar Ray Leonard and James Toney also heap praise on Sanchez.
Honestly, a tremendous boxer. He could do it all. His offensive combinations never stopped yet his defense was always on point. He switched between attacks and defense flawlessly and on top of that he had a granite chin with a never ending engine.  I absolutely believe if he had been able to continue his career there would be no argument that he was a top 10 best ever, maybe top 5!
What A Fighter!!!!!

For the Big Baby Fan Club!

https://www.tapology.com/fightcenter/events/110523-anderson-vs-merhy

Jared Anderson next fight is officially official! (The poster dropped today!)  He is facing a decent guy, Ryad Merhy who has challenged for a World Title, he also held an Interim title for some time although all this was at Cruiserweight!!! But he is coming off a solid win as an underdog on away territory vs. Former Heavyweight Olympic Gold medallist and funnily  enough  a former Top Rank prospect Tony Yoka.  I'd say he's Jared's best opponent yet, better than Charles Martin and if you remember Martin rocked Jared a couple of times and had him on skates. So could be an interesting fight.

Efe Ajagba is the.co main .  He was seen as 1 of if not THE most dangerous Heavyweight prospect a few years back before suffering a loss to Cuban Frank Sanchez, no shame

So I'd take an educated guess and say Top Rank would like to match Jared up against Ajagba if both win here..  never a certainty with Heavyweights!!!

They are good friends. I doubt they fight unless there is serious money on the line down the road. Same with Jared and Torrez.

Despite how good Francis N'Gannou looked against Tyson Fury and despite all the promo for the Anthony Joshua fight, my brain is still struggling to adjust to the idea of N'Gannou fighting elite heavyweight boxers for some reason. He's a legitimately good boxer but I guess I still associate him with MMA too much for my brain to comprehend it.

Anderson may be in jail by the time the fight comes. Took the police on a high speed chase with his new found love of Hellcat Chargers. He's crashed 3 of them in the last month or so.

That new woman of his seems to be when all the trouble and **** really started. Countless boxers lose their career or drive or focus over some *****. He is aiming to be the next one on that list. Seems more worried about cars, vacations, and social media blogs/ Onlyfans. Seems like she's become a distraction more than anything.

About to be adding the first Open Qualifying Tournament for the olympics so if you want to up your pick numbers, now is your chance.  There are a TON of fights.  Some weight classes go as far out as the Round of 128!

@HI_DEFFF
I heard Tim Bradley on the Top Rank Boxing post fight show last night (well 5am for me!) When they brought up Jared Anderson Tim says " I seen the car that boy bought and I said to myself, this is TROUBLE!!!" I'm paraphrasing but basically he said that Anderson is getting distracted and maybe falling into the age old traps for young anewly rich and famous athletes.  Money, Women, Drugs followed by Jail and Bankruptcy!!
I hope none of that happens of course.  Just seen it too many times to not acknowledge it.
Speaking of which, Ryan Garcia is looking very shaky!!! He looks like he's been partying HARD!!! Not just on the Tequila either, maybe got hooked up with Oscars plug if you get what I'm saying!   Also Only Fans models is not a great sign.
I'm seriously considering picking Haney by KO!! Haney who I have described as a jab and cuddle merchant!   I am likely picking him to KO Garcia he looks that bad

What you guys think????

Oh and by the way I am no saint!!! Far away from it in fact!!!! I'll say less about that. Just saying I'm not trying to preach on some high horse about "these kids need Jesus!"" Or some ****.  I've been there, done it so I can see tell tale signs!

Former IBO World Champion, 22-2 Carlos Gongora entered the first World Qualifying tournament in Italy only to get bounced in his first fight in the Round of 64 to Prewa Padabadi.  A fighter from Togo with minimal experience who got beat in the quarterfinals in the African qualifying tournament.  Another reason for all the people out there complaining about pros entering the olympics, the ammy's are a whole different world

Down goes another as former WBO champ and most recently on the losing end of an undisputed bout, 14-3 Christina Linardatou goes down to Kosovan Donjeta Sadiku in the Quarterfinals.  At least she won twice before going out, which is more than Carlos can say lol

Shortest Retirement ever!???

Didn't Tyson Pedro retire last weekend???

Apparently he's going to be a pro boxer now!  Not sure how that's going to work out for him? Maybe get himself a regional New Zealand belt? But there's a decent amount of talent in Australia and a couple guys boxing outta New Zealand at the moment around Cruiserweight and Heavyweight.

Maybe he'll have a fight with an ex Aussie Rules or Rugby League guy??? Those dudes are always boxing on pretty big shows in Australia.  There was 2 Aussie Rules guys boxing yesterday morning !

Anyway, so much for retirement!

Wonder how fast Dana is gonna shut that down. I'm pretty sure he still had fights left on the contract when he retired so the UFC owns him for life unless they let him out of it. Not very likely from the success of past attempts.

I guess so. Doesn't really count tho because Fajardo is a Filipino!!  So Thailand still not on the scoreboard vs. Japan! Ha
