There official results add on to their record according to Sherdog, UFC, Wiki.

On here, they're labelled custom rules bouts that don't go on to their record?

Any idea why? A reply would be nice.

If these are custom rules bouts that don't go on their record, then all the early UFC bare knuckle MMA fights shouldn't go on their records either.

It's bare knuckle MMA, it's still MMA. All other websites that hold their records have it correct.

@TCEKilla

Tapology doesn't count bareknuckle MMA as MMA. The same with BKFC, Tapology doesn't count it as boxing.

MMA has evolved, it is continuation of the sport, process, it was called MMA before, but rules have changed. Bare knuckle is a different sport. Do I really have to explain you this?

one of the most Important commons/rules is fighters having gloves, having a major rule changed is often changing the sport. Bare Knuckle fights have often rings or weird cages having completely different shapes, WOTORE in Poland had something like this

MMA is now known for having octagon cage or rounded cage with diameter around 10 meters, one meter of height for a platform (scene) if I am not mistaken, and around 2 meters of height of the fence. These are not strict values, but oftenly similiar. Depends on promotion. As I said, bare knuckle often changes the rules which is probably the main reason of it not being counted as  MMA.

If I made mistakes please correct me, I am still learning

Thanks for the reply guys.

It's MMA. It's mixed martial arts without gloves. Same rules as the unified rules, same commissions, they're professional mixed martial arts fights, just with no gloves.

When someone from this org signs with the UFC and they announce this fighter in the octagon having a so and so record, counting their bare knuckle MMA fight, which they will. Can't you see what I mean here?

Sherdog, Wiki, UG all count it as a professional MMA fight.

ONE Championship and Rizin have different rulesets, shouldn't they be considered custom rules bouts and no go on their official record?

A better question is why they chose to go bare knuckles can't even count the times people ***** about gloves not being good enough?!#$
But yeah no reason to retro anything rules change new ones are adopted like trying to rule out old wins in Basketball, Baseball or more relevant here boxing.
Fun fact aside from UFC most the other fledgling mma firms back then used different names and did not call it mma.
Pancrase, Shootfighting Sambo, Catchwrestling the ubiquitous "STREET FIGHTING" nomenclature.
Hilariously a figure from Pancrase is actually seen live in audience of an early UFC and they are interviewing him on similarities.
I know somebody is gonna google this and tell me I'm wrong but I pulled this all from my personal memory.

@TCEkilla

Maybe it's a matter of fact that some people see bare knuckle as reckless way of mma, so they stop perceiving it as MMA because it's more injuryish idk

Well in that case, Rizin in Japan and ONE FC in Singapore should be considered reckless MMA. ONE allows grounded knees to the head of fighters, RIZIN allows stomps, soccer kicks and knees. They're custom rule bouts, yet Tapology puts them on their official MMA record, but doesn't put professional MMA fights with no gloves on their records, when they're officially professional MMA fights.

Makes no sense.

LOL. Great response. Well if you don't want to add these pro MMA fights to their records, then it's gonna get confusing when people see their full record else where then come here for a different false one.

Well, bareknuckle isn't Boxing and shouldn't be defined as such. But I don't see why Gamebred FC isn't considered MMA. He's right about the RIZIN/ONE thing.

Honestly, I get a reply from a site moderator saying they "don't care".

Lol, I thought this website was run very well, until I posted this thread a couple months ago to no reply, then to get site mods not giving a f...

This is a well set up community, with factual information, but completely ****ting on me for giving my opinion, to maybe help your fight database, is a clown show.

Calm down dear.

Do you work for Gambred FC? Is that you Malki???

I said I don't care because I cover boxing when it comes to this site. So I didn't want to get involved, I have enough time spent covering my area. Also, I'm not a moderator.

I do take interest in what happens on the site but ultimately I'm not the guy who is going to answer your question here.

TCE on Tapology there are:
- moderators, who do not have anything to do with fight records and database stuff
- fightcenter editors, who enter information into the database, but don't really make "policy" decisions
- administrators, who will decide policy on questions like how bare knuckle MMA is classified

And on this, the administrators concluded that bare knuckle MMA will not count as an official MMA fight. Specifically because the lack of gloves is a fundamental variance from the generally accepted rules of modern MMA.

Gregory

Thank you. I appreciate the reply.

I love this website. It's just Gamebred FC is a professional MMA org, will look strange having their official MMA record with less wins/losses on this website, when everywhere else (and the commissions) label it a professional win/loss on their record.

Anyway, thank you again for replying. Cheers :)

@TCE basically we respectfully disagree with any entity classifying it as MMA and hope that over time our policy on this is recognized as the correct one. Also note that Boxrec, the leading boxing database, is on the same page as us. Just as Tapology does not include Bare Knuckle MMA on a fighter's MMA record, Boxrec does not include Bare Knuckle Boxing on a fighter's boxing record.

E.g. Chris Leben:

https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/852823
He is 0-0-0 as a boxer. The fights only show on the bare knuckle tab.

@Gregory, I appreciate the replies. I do wonder why you count Rizin and One Championship MMA fights to their official records? They're clearly custom rule bouts. More so than Gamebred FC. It's interesting.
