Shogun/Hendo, Chandler/Alvarez and Bendo/Guida all weren't eligible for nomination one of those 3 could of taken it but still Edgar/Maynard II was an awesome fight and well deserving of the award

I'd say Guida/Henderson, Chandler/Alveraz, Henderson/Rua were all much better fights. They should have waited will Januray not Dec. when there are two more UFC events and a Strikeforce event i think

Don't agree with the decision to do the "2011" awards before 2011 is over.

Edgar vs Maynard II was awesome, but personally I would've chosen Hendo vs Shogun.  Not implying Edgar vs Maynard II was a bad choice though.  There were a few fights that could've taken this award without many complaints.

i think shogun vs hendo was too late to have it be nominated. same with guida vs bendo and penn vs diaz. they'll get nominated next year. i don't really get how award shows work. for example this years grammy's, kanye's my beautiful dark twisted fantasy is up for an award this year even though it came out like 3 months before the previous grammy awards. anyway, shogun vs hendo will win next year

There's been some crazy fights this year but none had a better stage set than this one. With the belt on the line to end the triology, you gotta give it to edgar v maynard based on that criteria

Shogun vs Hendo was, but it wasn't in the time the nominations were for so they might end up winning it one year from now.

As others have said, they shouldn't be doing "best of 2011" until 2011 is over.  Shogun/Hendo gets my vote.

If I had to pick right now, I think that the fight of the year was Hendo/Shogun. Edgar/Maynard II is a close 2nd, but that's it. IMO, at this point in MMA every fight is 2nd compared to Hendo/Shogun. There was also Korean Zombie/Garcia, Bendo/Guida, Macguire/Edwards, Chandler/Alvarez, and Diaz/Penn.
