I was planning on Mendes grinding out a boring decision against a Jose Aldo that has outgrown (physically) the featherweight division.  Now that this fight is happening in Brasil, I think Jose will have enough motivation.

That's a good fight, I could see either guy winning.  Not too many title fights like that lately.

Should be interesting. If there's anyone who can dethrone Aldo, Mendes is the type who has a shot. Looking forward to this.

Definitely helps Aldo being in Brazil, if Aldo can beat Mendes, he will have a very long reign as champ.

Aldo is a much better fighter than Mendes, but Mendes is a beast of a wrestler and he's strong and fast as hell. I see this one being frustrating for the champ, but I'll still pick him.

I think Aldo's cut to 145 is getting tougher with each fight. His performances are suffering a bit from the weight cut. I think Mendes takes the belt at 142 and Aldo moves up to 155 where there is a lot more competetion.

Interesting theory @p4p. I wouldn't disagree with it. I actually have a feeling Mendes will beat Aldo via wet blanket, but hopefully not.

@skelliher if you look into what Aldo has to do to make weight you'll see how brutal it is for him. That takes a huge toll on your body. I really don't think he can do it much longer. Plus money mendes is a very skilled fighter.

@skelliher. i find it interesting that your taking aldo (a striker) vs the great wrestler in mendes. yet you say diaz (a great striker) has no chance vs gsp. (a great wrestler). since i am a 10th grade dropout it is very confusing. can you explain it in simple terms.

uhhh... because Mendes is nothing like GSP and Diaz is nothing like Aldo?  they're all totally different fighters.

GSP is a better wrestler than Mendes, and Aldo has better takedown defence than Diaz.  And, yeah, as Greg said, they are all completely different fighters with completely different styles.
