Melendez most likely will not be jumping over..

On the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani he just stated his plans are to fight Jorge Masvidal in December on the Strikeforce card.  Discuss?  He stated that he still has 4 fights on his current Strikeforce/Showtime contract.

The best idea seems to be give him the Bendo/Guida loser.  That would be absolutely crazy in my opnion if they gave him a title shot right off the bat. If it were pretty much any other division I could understand it but the lightweight division is so deep and there are people who went on 5-7 fight win streaks who didn't even get a shot.  Melendez needs to come into the UFC and then step in line.

Have you guys seen Melendez/Guida 1? Its pretty damn crazy, especially the scrambles, everyone should watch it....  

If the big announcement is coming from Strikeforce instead of UFC, my guess is that he is fighting in Strikeforce, and not going to the UFC. 

But @aph and @buffalo are correct that the move will simply happen later, not never.

Melendez has been saying that he's not getting too excited yet, BECAUSE he hasn't signed anything official.  He's been taking the attitude that Masvidal is his next opponent... but was there anything "Official" that he WON'T get the next Ufc Title fight?

"I just wanted to discuss my future with the organization," Melendez said Monday on The MMA Hour. "It looks like I have a good future. ... I just expressed that I want to fight the best."

Although Melendez described himself as a loyal Strikeforce fighter who still has four fights left on his contract, he made no secret of the fact that his ultimate goal in the sport is to be the champion in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. 

"The UFC title is the best belt," he said. "I want that belt and I want it as soon as possible."

I hope he transfers over soon without any drama between Zuffa and Showtime. I want to see the best guys in the UFC, so bring em over already.

@freeman Aha thanks :D  And wow what a great fight both guys went at it.  This is the first time I've seen Melendez fight and he really can compete with the best, I think he'd be a solid top 10 in the UFC but I wont make any other assumptions based on one fight and some statistics.

In that case @fresno I have another suggestion! Melendez's most recent fight was extremely impressive, Melendez/Kawajiri 2, and it can be easily searched on youtube

@bass It will be a very interesting fight if does actually happen haha I think they should both be moved into the UFC regardless of the outcome. Masvidal is hilarious in the Miami Hustle vids
