Some of you might remember when Jones vs Jackson, I constantly posted wishing for a Jackson slam, stating I would consume the contents of my wardrobe. If Machida wins this fight via knockout or submission, I will post a video of myself, consuming a pair of underwear. COME ON MACCCCCHIDDDDDDDDDDAAAAAAAAAAAA

Shogun and Hendo are tied. Rashards injured. Jacksons just loss. Griffins off a loss. Could of always sent Tito Ortiz in.. that would have been funny.. or something..

Its not like Rashards out for a year, he's probably out for a couple months at the most. I'd much rather see a deserving challenger in 6 months then someone who doesn't deserve it in 3.

Rashad is also the most interesting match up for Jones. He has top notch takedown defense, great striking and a great control of range. Jones will have much difficulty taking him down and leg kicks and flashy teeps won't be enough to break him down, and there is no way he'll finish him. That gives Machida 5 rounds to find his range and tee off. Obviously I grasp at any straws to see Jones lose but I'm putting  my money on Machida in this fight.

I hope we never here Joe Rogan utter the words, "welcome to the Machida era" ever again.  Jones will finish him

I see it looking like a more one sided version of Jones v. Rua. Jones reach takes away most of Machida's striking advantage in my opinion.

@fglop said it best. Machida is not deserving of this title shot at all. Even the most die hard Machida fan hopefully could admit that. Rashad has EARNED the shot and if people are realistic and honest about it everyone knows Evans poses the biggest threat to Jones. I believe Jones will beat Machida inside of 3 rounds and it will be violent. Worse then even what Shogun did to him.

@p4p I agree that Rashad deserves it more than Machida.  However, I disagree with @fglop that we should have to wait an unknown amount of time.  Rashad earned the shot, but he's injured, and I want to see a title fight!  Machida is the 2nd best option.

@gregory yeah I guess Machida by default. Why do you think they have to make this title fight but the hw belt can be sat on for over a year?

HW was the opposite... the champ was injured so he didn't fight, and JDS fought Brock for #1 contender.   Had Cain been healthy but JDS was injured, I'm sure they would have just given Brock another title shot.

I'm rooting for Machida.  I'll probably end up picking Jones, but I don't want to decide yet.

I wouldn't say that Rashad "EARNED IT and Machida didn't", I mean Rashad beat Tito...that's not really a #1 contender fight.

@gregory I think they should have made Carwin/JDS for an interim belt. Over a year is way too damn long for no title fights at hw.

they needed a head liner for the toronto card and rashad wouldn't have been ready in time.  it's a big money fight and so it makes sense to the ufc.   sucks for rashad though as his "number 1 contender" spot seems to have no meaning.

@swick really? Evans also beat Rampage and Thiago Silva. Who has earned a title shot more then Rashad? It certainly is not Machida. Rashad has earned a title shot and Machida is getting gifted one.
