Potential main event for Detroit. Frankie's never been finished. With a career as long and storied as his, that's astonishing.

What an amazing matchup. I'm sure I'll flip flop on this a million times in the lead up.
Right now, I'm leaning toward Frankie in a 5 round fight. Holloway will definitely do damage along the way though. Frankie has been through a lot at 36 years old. I could see Holloway being the 26 year old monster that finally puts Edgar down. It will be a war either way.

If this is the main event in Detroit I'll blow my load right now.

My goodness Holloway is going to crush Edgar bad.

I think people here are underestimating Edgar.

Absolutely not underestimating Edgar, I'd have to estimate him winning first :P

The only thing I'm really worried about is Edgars wrestling and how much that may stifle Holloways attack. Edgar is also getting up there in age and he has been in a lot of wars. It's only a matter of time before that armor cracks and he can no longer sustain the punishment he has taken in the past.

Really interesting fight. Heart says Edgar but mind is uncertain. Big stakes here even by championship standards. I think it's probably Edgar's last shot to be a two division champion(unless he moved down again) and if Holloway wins this he's a firmly established number 1 featherweight who's likely to have a long reign.

Frankie is probably the toughest fighter in the UFC right now. That is why I think he will win this as he will grind it out.

Hate using MMAth here but he couldn't grind out Aldo twice and Holloway just merked Aldo.

True, but I think Aldo is just a bad stylistic match-up for Frankie, especially when he played it safe that second fight.

I love Frankie but he is on the decline now, gradually admittedly. But Max is just getting better and better.

IDK, Frankie lost to Aldo and has beaten everyone else, that's about the same as a few years ago.

He is still top class. There is no one at featherweight you can't justify him being in the cage with but I do see signs of slowing down slightly. I think it may become more and more of an issue for someone who is all about output and durability.

I feel like Max is now just hitting his peak. Imo, how Max is able to attack off his back and get back up to his feet will set the tone for this fight. If he's able to threaten Frankie with sub attempts and elbows from the bottom, it will go along way in getting back to his feet. I think it's important because I'm pretty sure that Frankie will hit some takedowns at least early. As good as Frankie's striking is, I think Max will be able to gain an advantage in the striking. But Frankie could nullify that with some vicious g&p like he did against Yair. Plus there is a lot to be said about "Championship confidence." Max has that in spades.
