Diaz never deserved the shot anyway.  I'm not saying the fight wouldn't be exciting but Condit deserved the shot over Diaz anyway.

@12to6, your av is rather disturbing.  I can't say that Diaz wasn't deserving, he was easily the most marketable matchup, as long as he played along.  He didn't and now Condit, who is equally as deserving, just not as well known, gets his shot.

Exactly, Diaz got the shot because simply because of his marketability.  You really think he deserves a shot because he beat KJ Noons, Cyborg, and Daley?  Condit is the better fighter imo and he's done more to earn a shot than Diaz has lately.  My opinion of course.

I don't see why they couldn't just have played the whole "We have a badass here who just will not play the game we set out vs the champion who is willing to do whatever we tell him too."  Nick Diaz is the Axel Rose of MMA, they knew what they were getting into.

My initial reaction was "What do Mayhem Miller, Tyron Woodley, Jay Hieron and GSP have in common?"

Hint: They're all wrestlers and got treated with the Nick Tuck.

Every bit of respect anyone had for Diaz for being gangster should be gone now... I like the Condit fight better but he ruined this card for all of his fans, and he has no remorse.

my first guess was Fitch but Dana sort of ruled it out in an interview with HeavyMMA.com (about 3mins in)... also Dana says he was going to do Fitch/Hughes when Sanchez got injured but Fitch wouldn't of been ready

Ariel said via Twitter that Fitch said he was training hard would be 100% in time for the Penn fight so who knows

imagine if they resign Marquardt or bring Melendez over from SF lol ... i'd enjoy both fights, but Melendez more.

*wrong thread but nevermind lol

I don't get why everyone is talking about resigning Nate. (I guess because of the twitter beef?) I don't see that happening and I don't really love that fight...

no i don't see it happening either i only said it because of the "beef" they had and the fact Dana said we'd think he's crazy if he told us lol ... i doubt they'd bring Melendez over either tbh, though it would be a great fight imo if they did.

Dana's said no to stuff before and then announced the opposite the next day so i really wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be Fitch

i don't think Marquardt/Penn would be a great fight but i would still enjoy watching it because of the beef lol

I just read the article that gave Cesar Gracie's comment in reference to the Diaz situation.  At the very end of the article there was an embedded video of the post-fight interview Diaz gave after his bout with Daley.  Cesar Gracie stated a couple of times in his comment that Diaz suffers from "deeply ingrained social anxiety."  The video at the end of the article clearly showed Diaz' apprehension to be in front of the camera and answering questions.  He seemed extremely uncomfortable and awkward, constantly moving around, rubbing his face, and performing what I call "defensive posturing."  You could actually see his nervousness boiling to the surface.  I actually felt bad for the guy, to be completely honest.

It's possible, I suppose, that Diaz really has some sort of social phobia and chickened out of the press conferences out of sheer nerves.  Diaz may not have been afraid to take on St. Pierre, but instead was terrified to get up in front of all of those cameras and microphones and talk about it.  However, that doesn't explain why he didn't at least make contact with his own trainer, Cesar Gracie, or call Dana White to explain himself, and express the fact that he still wanted to fight GSP for the title.  Diaz really messed up on this one, but in light of the new evidence I'll back off just a little bit.

I understand social anxiety and all, but isn't that why he smokes herb? Do some rips from the bong an hour or so before the press conference & handle your business, Nick.

I've never been a Nick Diaz fan, but I do hope he gets himself together and salvages his career. Or barring that, go do triathlons for a living & never deal with a press conference again.

i read a similar if not the same article over at Sherdog ... i'm not saying he was scared to fight GSP, i'm just saying he's a fool for blowing the biggest fight of his life unnecessarily

even with severe social anxiety he could still of spoke with his camp/friends, who could of got together with Dana and worked something out ... he could of explained things beforehand rather than disappearing and leaving your camp to do it

i'm sure Dana would of been willing to meet him halfway, maybe cut the conference short knowing Nick would be uncomfortable, or made excuses for him to leave after a couple of minutes of questions ... all he had to do was show up

i'll be over it tomorrow lol, i'm just pissed at the whole situation and disappointed with Nick tbh, i was looking forward to the fight and have been a fan on Nick's for years, but he makes it hard for me to remain one at times lol.
