Why exactly would DJ fight Liniker in a non-title fight at 135, rather than defend his belt?

Who else is left at 125 if he beats Cejudo?  I think Liniker vs. DJ is an interesting fight.  And to honest if Liniker could make weight and would have continued winning I believe he would be getting a title shot eventually.

Really I think it's a credit to how great "Mighty Mouse" is.  He has been so good at 125 that people aren't interested in his fights, which is a shame.  I was hoping that Liniker could keep his weight in line but if he's having that much trouble making weight, then I think the healthy weight to fight at is 135.  This would be a great fight, and I believe DJ would win, but still Liniker carries a lot of power at his weight.

You obviously haven't listened to DJ on the JRE. DJ doesn't have any interest in not defending his FlyW belt. Especially against a guy that's a fringe top 15 BW. Don't expect DJ to fight at BW anytime soon, unless the UFC brass make it worth his while.

this was my toughest fight to pick.  Dober is well rounded but can make crucial mistakes and be washy.  looks like i got this one wrong but good performance by an underrated dober

Maybe they will scratch the FLW division like it was rumored earlier this year.

@unbeknownst no I didn't listen to him on jre. And if he wants to continue defending his belt that's fine. I just wouldn't expect anyone outside of people who already watch him to give a ****. It sucks to say but that is the reality. He needs a captivating challenge to get more people interested.

I don't think there is fight at BW that would inspire anyone outside of people who already watch him to give a ****. The UFC is putting the best BW title fight even on FS1. If DJ fought the winner the TJ/Cruz as the the mainevent on a PPV, it wouldn't do very much more than a typical BW/FlyW title fight PPV card. Probably somewhere around 200k. It might not reach enough buys to trigger a PPV bonus. Unless they pay him more guaranteed upfront money, DJ would be happy fighting Cejudo, Benavidez (again), Louis Smolka, and Ray Borg; and breaking Silva's all-time defense streak.

Truth is DJ can't sell ****. He is an all time great talent fighting in the weakest division in the UFC (on the men's side). It's not his fault. He is great at what he does but the last time he fought someone with an equal amount of talent he lost. Why not showcase how much he has improved. If he won't fight a middle of the road guy then **** it give him the tj/Cruz winner.

It's to the point now where I have no interest in that division. I get no excitement from flw fight announcements. So either DJ keeps fighting in front of half filled arenas or UFC needs to start marketing this guy. It's a problem when people are walking out before or during a main event of a ppv

I understand where you're coming from as a fan. I think we'd all be excited to watch DJ vs either TJ or Cruz II. However I think the only BW fight that would make DJ more money, than a FlyW title fight, is a BW title fight against Uriah Faber. If Uriah can somehow get the title away from TJ or Cruz that might sell enough to make it worth while for DJ to jump weight classes.

DJ alreay said he want 2millions to jump a 135 and face TJ. I dont think Dana will pay this amount.

Well, the title fight vs Cejudo will probably be the biggest draw of mighty mouses career, so things are subject to change after that possibly. Also, after Cejudo who realistically is there left for Mighty Mouse?

Unbeknownst, you're a smart guy...A Benavidez rematch for the third time and fighting second and third tier guys like Borg and Smolka because you know they can't get through guys like Bagautinov and Benavidez is relatively what I mean by "nothing left after Cejudo".

If he does stay at 125lbs after putting a clinic on Cejudo then fights I am most interested in are a Horiguchi rematch, a fight with Ray Borg and....Zack Makovsky? Heh....There's nothing left.

To be serious, it's going to be fun watching the clinic DJ puts on Henry.

I don't know if Cejudo is ready but Johnson needs opponents and he seems to be the best option.

After this fight I think it's safe to say DJ needs to challenge himself at 135.

Yes, there is no one left in his division except maybe Lineker.

Well, Lineker moved up to 135 because he had trouble making weight. No way Dana would risk Lineker having to go down and make 125 on the money.
