How about you let the guy who actually lives here tell you what they know or don't know about.

Of course there are a few who know, but on a whole the sport is super obscure over here. Every now and then you'll hear someone hear something about Rousey of McGregor or the 3 people that comment on Noad Lahat's FB page (who aren't usually that knowledgeable anyway), but other than that when telling people here about the sport I find myself having conversations you guys were most likely having with your friends circa 2004.

The MMA community here is tiny and in general when it comes to actually following a sport (not showing sudden interest when we have a Jodoku or surfer fighting for an Olympic medal or something), Israel's all about football and basketball.

^Let me give you a lesson on Israel, you amateur.

Over 78% of the population fights professionally in MMA. Legit statistic. 83% of the UFC's overall numbers come from Israel per year. 94% of Bellator's overall numbers come from Israel per year. All it takes is a bit of research and you'd know this too.

Yoss, that is why I said that I would think they do. Even in the AFC 3 event in 97 did Greg Friedman say that there was interest in such type of events. I guess he was just full of it.

Don't get me wrong, if Bellator come there will be buyers (otherwise they wouldn't come), but you won't find too many people here who know Eduardo Dantas while as Kimbo would be an attraction.

Again, not saying that's what their strategy is, I'm pretty sure they'll put on a solid card, and even if they do put on a freakshow main event, I'll go of course.

Another thing Greg Friedman said was that the recent immigrants from the Ex-Soviet republics had broght a lot of MMA with them.  That and of course Krav Maga is there.

I guess buses blowing up in Jerusalem didn't really help the cause ...

That's unfortunate about Israel not getting an MMA card.  Still, I'm intrigued by Bellator getting a card in France.

Top ireland /brit show BAMMA (rival to Cage Warriors) is also contracted under the "Bellator/R1Z1N" umbrella so that could be a good filter top .. and I think Italy mma is potentially about to take off , I know of a certain 17 year old prospect from Milan ( Verbania to be exact) he's a boxing background and already  training at sbg or potentially kings or else where down the line  , I feel he could be Italy's "Mcgregor"... he has 3 am wins but not recorded some how. .c weird hybrid rules , well be talking more bout this prospect soon I think , early yet "Edoardo 'Edo' Caiazza"
