I missed the part when Henderson went to Strikeforce? What happened with that...

Prediction: correct Henderson   wrong Decision

After knocking out Michael Bisping at UFC 100, Henderson asked for a bigger contract, basically saying he was a veteran and had earned it, and was now a big star.

UFC is really sensitive to this stuff because if they cave in to one fighter's demands, every other fighter will get the same idea. So UFC held firm and the two sides couldn't agree.  Henderson got signed by Strikeforce at that point.

Strikeforce, thinking they had a superstar on their hands, booked him the main event on CBS against Jake Shields. Shields was a puffed up welterweight holding their middleweight title, only had 1 fight left on his contract, and was considered boring. Strikeforce thought they could have Henderson come in, smash Shields, win the title, be a hero on national TV, and then they wouldn't need to worry as much about Shields and his expiring contract.

Didn't work out that way, Henderson at 39 years old looked stiff after the first round and lost a slow, grinding decision.  Shields retained the belt and then left and signed with the UFC anyway.  The whole thing backfired.  It was also the same night that Strikeforce had two other slow, 5-round decision title fights, capped off by an in-ring brawl at the end of the night on network TV that embarrassed everybody.

Wow that was a long time ago, it was basically a money issue.  Dana said he wanted too much, and I always agree with Dana.
