@Wolf...Thats what makes Frankie even more impressive! But he's just holding onto the belt until Oct! @Dakej not at all I think Fitch is damn good and could make a serious run at MW too, but maybe the guys after Fitch and Condit aren't as great as they're made out to be!

@Danno - I'd agree with that. If I remember right, I have Shields as the #2 welterweight, with Fitch at 3.
I would go so far as to say that LHW may be close to the SHALLOWEST division now. Heavyweight probably still is, but outside of the the top 5 or maybe 10 there's not a lot of quality.

Penn's different then the rest of the LW's tho. Could any other LW come up and compete with Fitch or really any other MW.

HW will always be shallow compared to the other divisions...you just don't get big guys like that, that are also extremely athletic like Cain, JDS, Brock and Mir so you'll have maybe 5 guys at a time when the HW division is deep with a real legitimate shot at the title

@K1 - Alves has been overrated for quite a while in my opinion. Story just didn't believe the hype and stuck it to him. Brenneman came out of nowhere. I need to see more from him to decide what I think. Story is still a talented fighter with a lot of potential.
@Soccer - Fitch and Condit absolutely, but MacDonald is looking pretty unstoppable too.

MacDonald is definitely hes gonna dominant the division once GSP either retires or moves up (if GSP doesn't move up I'll be surprised to see him fight past 35 or so)

Agreed. The massive amount of talent at 155 is ridiculous.

@K1 I actually think Condit has the best shot against GSP at WW!

Im a big Condit fan. 155 is far and away the most competitive division in MMA. Everyone has already named the names. Plus 155 has the most talented prospects, Makdessi, Barboza, Olivera etc...

Yah lightweight is pretty good, but with the introduction with the featherweight division once Gray Maynard takes the belt, Frankie will most likely drop down to 145 and compete there, Florian and Griffin went down and most likely more to come.

I really don't think it matters who holds belts from 135-155 they're just warming them until Jose Aldo decides he wants them!

I think Fitch, Kos, Shields, Condit just to name a few would be a force at any weight class. The ww division is deep and it'll be fun to watch how it plays out with the younger guys coming up too.

I'd say lightweight is the toughest right now. Welterweight also. I think that featherweight should be considered as well. A lot of up and comers, and although the names may not be as popular, but it's a tough weight class to be in right now.

Frankie Edgar is the Shia Lebouf of MMA, except for fact that Frankie isn't jewish and he's not a ***** either.

I'd say FW is a close 2nd to LW since we'll probably see half the LWs cutting to FW within a year. Edgar especially.

There's a few really tough one's, but if I had to pick 1 i'd say Lightweight. The UFC LW's and now the WEC LW's make it real tough.
