Yeah, well after the injuries come out, Pettis will get an immediate rematch in 2 years.

Ok.

i just read now that RDA actually had an injury yet he won.  That is amazing. It's too bad Pettis not try to go for the legkicks.

RDA went into the fight and went all 25 minutes on a torn MCL which likely caused a bit more damage than it already had, so there are injuries that exist post-fight that could possibly affect how soon he faces the Khabib/Khowboy winner.

i also just saw that Pettis could not see out of his right eye for most of the fight.  No excuse there as it was RDA who made it bad in the first place.

I remember when he hurt it halfway through the first, he immediately pawed at it and it swelled a little, when he never acted like it affected him after that point, I assumed he probably just caught a knuckle in the eye.  Not good to lose vision, but if I was the champ, I wouldn't tell anyone until after the fight either.

Yeah, I'm re-watching it right now and his eye got effed up in the first two minutes.  It was only a matter of time before the swelling and blood was gonna be a problem.

The UFC just went from having one the most marketable LW champions, to now having one of the least marketable LW champions.

What I'd like to know is how the **** RDA was able to win with a torn MCL?  I would have thought that he would have had more limited movement because of that, and wouldn't have had much strength with takedowns the way he did last night.

Also, what the **** happened to Pettis' stamina? He looked absolutely gassed last night from the second round on.

Because it was medial and not lateral, @hornygreen69er

Also, I'm assuming it was his right leg so he was lucky that Pettis was going south paw.

Your MCL is the ligament on the inside of your knees, it's purpose is to resist any force/impact that pushes the knee medially (basically towards the other knee).  It's not a front back thing or a weakened outside of the knee where you could lose balance if it went out.  It's on the inside where if it went out, your body weight is above it so you likely wouldn't lose balance, and not often in an MMA bout is force applied to the outside of the knee pushing it inward toward the other knee.  Not that it wouldn't hurt, be uncomfortable, or limit some affects of your game, but if you had to go in with any of your knee ligaments torn, that'd be the one.

One winter, I fell and tore all the ligaments in my left knee and fractured my knee-cap.  Was on crutches and Perc for about half a year.

I've torn my Anterior Tibial Tendon, took about 4 or so months to heal.  It's literally the tendon outside the shin that lifts up your foot to take a step.  I had no hope of lifting my toes up to even near ankle level any time my foot got off the ground so I had to step like 6 inches higher to go up stairs.  It's only funny in retrospect.

Eh for all of Pettis's seeming marketability, he wasn't really much of a PPV draw.

Pettis seem to have a lot of fans when I watched him at the bar last time he fought. He was famous for his cage kick which has been played over and over.

@GreenHornet553 About what happened to Pettis' stamina: body kicks happened. Exhausting your adversary is the whole point of punching/kicking the body. Well, you can also get a knockout if your opponent doesn't see the blow coming, but mostly body shots are used to weaken/drain people.

Should've listened to my gut

Prediction: wrong Pettis   wrong KO/TKO   wrong Round 2

On this one.  Deep down I knew we'd see a new champ.

I actually had RDA all day.  Then I checked bestfightodds.com to see he wasn't the popular favorite so I switched it.

Knew I should've stuck with my gut...I just knew it.

Unfortunately you were weak-minded. You could of had 75 more points had you listened to your gut.
