Topic: Ali Bagautinov

Seems like Bagautinov failed his later UFC 174 drug test.

EPO is expensive and complicated to test for. It's what all the Tour de France cycling guys were on, like Lance Armstrong and they couldn't catch him for like 10 years.

There are EPO derivatives out there which can't be detected yet. It's basically a game of cat-and-mouse where the athletes try to use new stuff for which the labs haven't developed a good, reliable and inexpensive detection method. That's why guys like Lance Armstrong who were rich and could afford the newest substances, would never fail a drug test. Athletes with less financial scope would have to rely on older drugs with the same effect but having the risk of being detected. I would guess that the latter applies to Ali Bagautinov.

Damn, Ninja's be cheatin' left n' right!

At this point I really think a one year suspension and a little fine doesn't cut it anymore, it's normal for fighters to take a 5-6 month break after fights anyway.

A 2 or 3 year suspension might help, I doubt it could clean this dirty sport entirely but it would be a start...

They want to clean up? Start by changing the stupid TE ratio from 6-1 (4-1 in other states) to a more human level of 1.5-1 or max 2-1. Look at guys like Reem and Drysdale, they didn't get caught with drugs in their system they had high TE ratios. Which means if they simply had double that of a normal male they would have been allowed to fight LMAO.

Drug testing in this sport is a complete joke. I just assume most guys are on something and I don't really care. Much like the NFL or other sports.

@FantasyMMA They banned TRT so the TE Ratio doesn't matter anymore...

How do you figure the TE ratio doesn't matter? That is how they catch many fighters cheating because as we all know some of these high end designer steroids don't show up on the tests. Like Reem and Drysdale.

Good going bagautinov. Getting yourself banned for 1 year. Then on top of that Dodson is out with a bad injury. Thats probably 2 of the top 5 guys at flyweight that wont be fighting. Maybe instead of putting on subpar TUFs like this past season, dana will finally realize he has a very thin 125 division. Hes had plenty of chances to make a flyweight TUF and he ignores them. And its not for a lack of talent. Theres some serious talent as well as marketable guys.
