My fight has been canceled for a 5 year old mistake I made. I am truly sorry to all the fans and will do everything I can to make this right. I have spoken with my ex-wife on the phone and she supports what I am doing and together we will make a formal press release as soon as I get back to the USA on Wednesday.

Meanwhile Trujillo has similar charges, Gustafsson spent 15 months in prison for aggravated assault during his teens, Stephens getting into bar fights, Rumble Johnson has had domestic violence issues, Bones driving drunk, the list goes on, yet they are still on the roster and many of them are headlining cards and hyped out the ass. Not saying that Chope shouldn't be cut, but be consistent.

And why even go that far? They're actually cancelling his fight against a dude that JUST DID EXACTLY THAT (threaten stabbing) ... AT THE WORKPLACE (i.e. under their direct supervision and responsibility, not years ago somewhere else) ... LESS THAN 3 ******* MONTHS AGO (not 5 years ago, not when he was 17 years old) -- how can they not see how hypocritical this looks???????

I would've just let the fight go on, Brandao probably would've beaten Chope. UFC releases him, no one bats an eye.
They did kinda kick Thiago Silva out for the same thing. Only a knife instead of a gun. But the UFC probably canceled the fight because if they let the fight go on and word got out about this guy the headlines are gonna read "UFC knowingly employs wife beater".
Plus there is the misconception that all fighters are "psychos". Doesn't look good. It sucks for Brandao, but I see the UFC's reasoning behind cancelling the fight.
