What happened to Russia (and also Ukraine, Belarus) being a source of top heavyweight fighters?

Obviously Fedor is still Fedor, but he came onto the scene basically 10 years ago. Same goes for his brother Aleksander, Igor Vovchanchyn, Sergei Kharitonov, Andrei Arlovski, and maybe others I'm forgetting.

Point is that all these guys were solid heavyweight fighters that appeared in the prior generation of MMA. What happened? Did Pride do a better job of finding and sticking these guys into high-level competition? Or is M-1 blocking guys from leaving somehow? Or what?

Just seems weird to me that there wouldn't have been another major guy come onto the scene from there in years.

There was Alexander Shlemenko in Bellator.  Not a heavyweight and not a future UFC champ but he's a pretty interesting fighter.
