Big Clay Guida fan right here but he needs to prove he can get past a top guy.  Takanori Gomi fight is on New Year's Eve, right?

The fight with Gomi will be big, but Guida's biggest problem is his lack of finishing ability. When you go on a tear like he has a few times in the lightweight division, you need to start finishing top guys to make a clear-cut case for a title shot because 1) White and Co. are not too impressed by decision-fests and 2) To state the obvious, the faster you finish someone, the less of a chance they will come back later in the fight or sc**** through to win a Split.

If he beats Gomi, he might be one big win away from a title shot.  But I think Gomi will win that fight.

Not sure how much weight Guida cuts, but perhaps he moves down to 145.
