Yawn, wouldve been neat a few years ago but BJ at this point will be too slow for FW. Also a third fight between BJ/Frankie is ******* stupid after Edgar already won the first 2 with the 2nd being pretty decisive.

Someone on here said Edgar was supposed to coach against Faber but Edgar didn't wanna drop to bantamweight. Didn't Faber say that he was interested in going to featherweight for big fights?

@Condit: Apparently Faber thought better of it. The road to a title at 135 is much faster than at 145, and he's right on the cusp of yet another shot if he gets through Mayday in December.

As for Penn/Edgar 3, I'd like to see Penn do well again, but Frankie's one of my favs and I just don't think it's a great match-up for BJ.

Hope they give them five rounds to settle it tho.

This is exactly why BJ Penn's win-lose ratio is not so great. How about taking a fight or two to win BJ? Rory MacDonald? Frank Edgar AGAIN. Come on.

@Skelliher I mean Faber shouldn't say **** and get fans excited if he isn't going to take up on it. Plus for the Yuri fight Faber said he would NEVER turn down a fight, Well Faber you turned down a fight.

BJ isnt a taking a fight or 2 to win because at this point in his career that doesnt make sense, he's already a legend with a limited amount of time left as a fighter. I dont think he could care less about his record and neither should fans

@Condit Not a fan of Faber (honestly despise Team Alpha Male), but I gotta grudgingly defend Faber on this one. He probably remembers his last TUF experience. Wait a while and build up a particular fight only to not fight said fight. Not only that, but you'd be asking for Faber to take a long time off considering they won't film until Dec/Jan at the earliest and then it's another 3+ months before he'd fight. Basically, if he was lucky he'd fight the last weekend of March and that's assuming the show goes on air within the first 2 weeks of January, which in all likelihood will not happen. Faber and the crew at Alpha Male have a good thing going right now on their current streak, and he may not want to shake that synergy up considering the amount of success it has brought. I don't think he's necessarily turning down fighting Edgar, so much as he is turning down another TUF. Also, notice in @Grizzlydewin's post that he stated Edgar didn't want to go down to BW after that was offered. He did not say that Faber refused to move to FW, only that Edgar refused to go to BW.

@zarog: All good points. I think this one was more on Edgar than Faber, and if Faber didn't want to do it, I'd say it has more to do with coaching TUF than going to 145.

I don't blame any top-flight UFC fighter from avoiding TUF like the plague. Takes you out of commission for about 8 months usually.

I like to see that BJ is back but 145? I'm not sure he can make it, but if he manages to come out in shape it will be a fun fight to watch

Dafuq?

Wasn't BJ all "I'll get beat up by giant welterweights because I don't want to cut to 155"???

I like it ... but Frankie's going to be too fast for him again ...

Anyway, **** it, I'm just happy to see BJ back in the Octagon ... WAR PRODIGY!!!!

@Zarog I see your point I didn't even think of it from the TUF coaching stand point, I just thought of the fight and you're right the TUF 19 finale is in April.

I think it was more about the 145 issue than TUF (maybe a mixture of both) ... Faber wants another crack at the 135 belt, sooner rather than later ... fighting Frankie at 145 doesn't get him there ...

Motivated 145 lbs BJ vs. Frankie "The Answer is Rematch" Edgar...sounds like really good match making, if there were only two guys on the roster that is.

Positive thing is that it seems like BJ recognized that he isn't a welterweight, is he a featherweight though?

Really weird fight but of course I'm gonna watch and of course I'm gonna root for BJ...

If you're worried about Penn fighting at 145 pounds, I'm told from sources close to him that he currently weighs 165 pounds. That's great.

I'm a huge BJ Penn fan but it's getting old hearing Dana pitch the same thing with Penn. Saying that's he's fired up and really motivated for the fight. Then as it gets closer, there will be some training footage or a picture of BJ looking like he's in the best shape of his life again and then a disappointing fight for him.

doesnt he walk around at that weight , I think it was his fight with Nick where he weighed in , in blue  jeans and was chugging water and still weighed like 169.  165 doesnt reassure me much

I ******* hate how long TUF keeps the coaches on the sidelines. I wanted to see Frankie fight again around the new year, now we get to see this fight in what? April, May 2014?  Do not want
