wow it was a good fight. hard to believe it was 10 years ago.

But yeah. Machida will use his range and is technical savvy to win the day against Davis. But if Davis finds a way to take it to the ground in anyway. Lyoto would be in trouble. I mean not even Magalhaes could submit him. and he is a wizard.

Should be a good fight though.

At first i went with Machida here but after a lot of thinking im changing to Davis taking the decision I think Davis will get this to the ground and keep it there i know Machida has otherwordly takedown defense but i think Phil reach will help him get in on underhooks better than most guys Machida has fought

Machida, the wrestlers killer.

I don't see Davis getting Machida to the ground.  Outside of Jon Jones, (who is in a class of his own), the only person to put Machida on the ground with any success was BJ Penn, (a very interesting fight many years ago when Penn didn't like skipping dessert).  Rashad never came close to putting Machida on the canvas.  When Davis fought rashad he couldn't get the takedown and was easily outstruck by a person who is not as fast or technically proficient as Machida.  None of these things bode well for Davis.

I don't see it going like the Based/Machida fight because Davis isn't dumb enough to lunge in with an overhand right he doesn't have.  It has more of a chance of going like the first round of the Jones fight where Machida throws that wicked flurry; however, Davis doesn't get out of the way like Jones did.  That would likely bring a quick end to Phil's night.

 As for Machida being boring: I think that's a matter of opinion as to what you find exciting.  Personally I enjoy watching somebody who is so much better than somebody else that they just make them look ridiculous whenever they try to hit them.  Machida is the least hit fighter in the UFC and has as good a mma fighting defense as I've ever seen.  He's only "boring" when other fighters refuse to engage him.  When they do engage he knocks them unconscious.  I don't see that as boring.  Then again I don't think GSP is boring either so......

I think this is a bad match up for Machida. Davis wont chase him around trying to knock him out. He will chase him down and be able to take him down.. Im a Machida fan but im tired of the hit & run fighting style. Hendo got srewed in his fight against Machida cause he couldnt catch him. But i think Davis has a chance to catch him and lay on top of him for 3rds. Boring fight but i think Davis will shock the world!! 

Davis"s primary way of winning dictates that he must grab a hold of lyoto and drag him to the mat and work for a submission.   the whole thing is Machida"s whole style is based off of evasive footwork and allowing his opponent the chance to grab or strike him.  

Machida is by far the better fighter in this fight,Davis can't keep getting thrown will top contenders after 1 or 2 fights,he need's to prove himself somehow and maybe it is this fight,however I don't think Machida will let that happen,2nd round ko for the dragon

Long night for Davis if he can't score the takedown.

Machida by awkward silence

Machida's footwork, and counter striking will be too much for Davis. If davis cant get this fight to the ground, it ends in a boring decision or a Machida vs Bader style KO. Bad fight for Davis.

To even mention Davis in the same breath as Machida is a ******* crime.

Only reason why this fight is intriguing to me is to see Davis try to grapple**** Machida. Doubt he can, but it's gonna be fun to see him try.

If he can do that then Machida won't be getting up for the remainder of that round. 

I don't think Phil will be able to do that though, I think Machida will win but it'll look a little like his win over Hendo. 

No question that was a close fight, but am I the only one who thought Machida looked like he didn't have the same reaction speed? Maybe father time is catching up.
