@Ben and @Wolfman

Those movies are not complicated. 3:10 to Yuma is not a complicated movie. It a good movie with a good story, and good characters, but it not complicated. What is complicated about that movie? Nothing. Like there nothing complicated about true grit either. Which by the way I mention John Wayne won best actor for. Yes I know you are talking about the remake, but the original is consider better. I say true grit as complicated a western as either John Wayne or Eastwood have ever done. Even that is not very complicated. Movie do not need to be complicated to be good movies or stories.  In fact I would say the most complicated Western by far to date is jango unchained. Even that was not overly complicated, though I admit it went a different direction then i thought it would. It was amazing movie, as are numerous westerns, but Westerns are not complicated movies in general and never been sold as complicated. A complicated movie is movies that make you think like for example inception.  Suggesting eastwoods westerns were more complicated so that made them  better is ridiculous arguement. There is nothing complicated about them. He played pretty much the same dude over and over. He was a baddass guy, mean son of a ***** with underlying heart. Or he was blood thirsty killer. There nothing complicated about either of those characterizations. You can say you thought he was better actor or his movies had betetr stories, but they were not more complicated. Westerns and complicated do not go to gather.

Also 3:10 yuma is so overrated. Apolousa was so much better.

another thing Eastwood did was make  bad guys in his films main characters, Gene Hackman in Unforgiven. (won the Oscar too)  the guy who played Tuco in the GB&U and Indio in For a few dollars more. Lee Van Cleef too. Eastwood was smart enough to know you can make a great film with other actors who play the villians. James bond films to me only work if there is a great villain.

Thinking the original True Grit is better is like thinking the UK Office is better than the USA Office. Instead of dissecting the word "complicated" let's just call it "compelling". The point is these are good stories. ******* whatever.

The need for a good villain character is also why I don't care much for the Iron Man trilogy.

I enjoyed the UK Office more than the USA Office, so I'm not getting your point.

@wish really? Anyways, my real point is that a lot of westerns are good stories, regardless of what connotation the word "complicated" has for you.

I like the style of humor from the UK version more than the US version. Can't explain why. Also the US characters got really old, really fast for me.

The US Office is good but it's more a case of the US taking a British show and miraculously managing to not turn it into total dog ****.

I mean, they remade Fawlty Towers 3 times and none of them made it past 10 episodes. What were you thinking America??

Huh. I just thought the UK office was awfully done. Its not even the actors, because Martin Freeman is a great actor, and it's not that I just don't get UK humor because I really like the sitcom "Black Books".

What you're getting with Black Books is more Irish humor than British to be honest, Ben.

Anyone ever watch Spaced? Check out the US remake of that. I'm pretty sure only the pilot aired due to it being complete trash.

You are probably thinking of Tommy Cooper, Wolfman. He died on UK national television during a routine from a heart attack. I would assume I'm not allowed to post the video, though it really does look like it is apart of his routine.

Why would Wolf mean Tommy Cooper when he says Benny Hill? Did I miss something? Benny was thought of as a bit of a perve but was in fact the complete opposite listening to first hand accounts of what he was really like. Benny is thought of as a comedic national treasure for those old enough to remember.
