@ geezhound. alice in chains was my favorite grunge group that came out of seattle. i actually lived in the seattle metropolitan area (everett) when these  groups were getting popular. AIC, soundgarden, pearl jam, nirvana and mother love bone. jerry cantrell has kept the group going even though two members have passed away. The song and video for "the man in the box" has a kickazz riff and its creepy but i love it.

AIC is definitely in my top 10. I had little hope for them returning to greatness untill they grabbed DuVall. Now it's like the music just picked up where Staley left off.

@Geez, I'm 32 and still finding new bands to listen to all the time.  Red Fang's new one is pretty bad ass.  @Wolfman, check out any band associated with Josh Homme.  Queens of the Stone Age, Eagles of Death Metal, Kyuss, The Desert Sessions, and especially Them Crooked Vultures.  Supergroup with Dave Grohl on drums and John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin) on bass.

Here's a link to a song off the new Red Fang album.  If you don't like the music, turn off the volume and watch the video, it's hilarious!

I'm almost 38, and I'm always finding new acts or bands that I've never heard of to listen too. A couple of bands that I discovered here recently that I think are really bad ass are Katatonia (July is my favorite song), Gojira (Rememberance is badass!!!!), Obscura, I Wrestled A Bear Once, and Eths (Crucifere is sick!!!!)

@jay, are you a fan of Opeth, Red Harvest, Nile, Dimmu Borgir, Heaven Shall Burn and other bands of that ilk?

@Oldman - my wife's favorite band is Dimmu Borgir. Opeth is a pretty damn good band. The lead singer has an awesome voice, and one of the most demonic growls in all of Metal. Nile is badass. I haven't heard Red Harvest or Heaven Shall Burn.

@jay, you have a bad ass wife!  The lead from Opeth has to be one of the most talented musicians I've ever seen.  He basically writes everything from what I understand.  Heaven Shall Burn is pretty much straight death metal, while Red Harvest has a much more industrial feel.

Heaven Shall Burn:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTkZt8r2lko

Red Harvest:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hc7smO3x3vc&feature=related

And for those of you who don't know Opeth, listen for at least 1:30, it's the same guy singing:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lk6Q4FpW-sY
