Nunes has had issues with missing weight, hasn't he? DW has made his stance on missing weight pretty clear.

Jesus, man. Deigo has an aweome FOTN with Bart, then loses 1 and hes cut. Picking regional cards on tapology were going to be seeing a lot of familiar faces in the near future.

Interesting cuts. I feel bad for both fighters as they both put on good performances.

Vieira's cut is understandable I suppose, but both his fights were pretty close/controversial. I hope he still fights on U.S. soil and not go into obscurity as he's a fun grappler to watch. I would definitely like him in WSOF.

As for Nunes, didn't see it coming... but his performance against Lentz was lackluster (but that's mainly because Lentz is a beast at 145). Lots of opportunities for him though and I'd like to see him join the ranks in Bellator. He could shake things up and there's plenty of great matches there for him.

Why so shocked? They can only have so many fighters under contract. this is gonna make being the ufc even more pretigious to fight in then ever, eventually ever fighter will be a top rank and all matches will have even bigger implications.

All it takes is a few wins outside the UFC, a few impressive wins, and they are back in there. Them not being in the UFC is not the end of the world. That goes for everybody that gets cut. Prove to the world why you belong on the biggest stage of MMA, and im sure they will welcome you back with open arms.

@trev I would agree with you that it brings a certain level of 'eliteness' as long as there were some consistency in the criteria behind those decisions, the problem is that right now you can't say that only the worst fighters are being cut nor that those who remain are the best.

Let's keep Palaszewski and cut Nunes herp derp ! He's not even a wrestler, in fact he got layed on in his last fight. Dude has a good record and is probably top 15 in his division.

But Leonard Garcia is a gainfully employed man. Hey Dana, I hear Minowa and Sakuraba are free too! If you wanna book loveable losers, thats fine. Whatever. But to cut Nunes is ridiculous.

Diego Nunes hasn't finished a fight in 11 appearances with the WEC and UFC.
Before that he had 11 finishes in his first 11 fights before entering the WEC.

Lost 3 of his last 5 fights, including his last one.

I like watching Diego fight, but I can't say I'm as surprised as some people.  People can say "Well why not this fighter, or this fighter?", but who's to say those fighters aren't next?

New post on FightMatrix front page. Hyperinteresting post. I suggest reading it.

http://www.fightmatrix.com/

If you're too lazy, here's the rundown, they did an analysis of the percentage of fighters in the top 25 and the average rank by organization. Here are the top 3:

ORG Top 25ers AVG Rank
UFC 35.7% 74.8
WSOF 17.4% 79.3
Recent 18 UFC cuts 11.8% 122.2

That means if 18 fighters could constitute an organization, the UFC's recent cuts would be able to form the 3rd most talented roster.
