Hmmm. Yahya beat Mike Brown and Josh Grispi. Hirota basically "beat" Pat Healy.

Although Yahya looked very impressive last time out, he's still an extremely one dimensional fighter. I think Hirota will be able to sprawl and brawl and win a decision.

Hirota seems like a viable pick. I completely forgot about the Healy fight. Now I'm reconsidering my pick.

Hirota should get a win here but then thrown to the wolves in his next fight.

Prediction: wrong Hirota   wrong Decision

Once again I'm going against the Tapology majority on this one and picking the Asian fighter. Hirota will be dropping weight here (red flag) in what seems as a striker vs. grappler fight on paper. I saw a post this week that said the worst striking stats on this event is Rani Yahya, who only lands 10% of his power head strikes & 0 knockdowns in 83 min. Yahya will look to take this fight to the floor and look for submissions. On the other hand, Hirota has solid TD as shown in the Pat Healy fight. I see him controlling where the fight takes place and outpointing Yahya badly in the striking department in route for a decision. If Yahya decides to pull guard, so be it. We have seen Chad Mendes sit in his guard without problems. Hirota is also a veteran and should not get get tapped from top position.

Hirota will keep this fight standing and pick Rani apart.

Prediction: correct Yahya   wrong Submission   wrong Round 1

Tough fight to call, Hirota got robbed against Healy in his last fight and I could see Hirota avoiding the ground and outstriking Yahya for a UD. But I think Yahya will sub him in the first.

Did end up changing my pick to Hirota. If Yahya loses and keeps his job, he should go back to BW.

Odds are so close but Yahya's ground game is so stifling, I don't know if Hirota will be able to steer clear.
