Im going with the dog here. Schaub is a bjj brown belt. Had an excellent sub in one of his fights on TUF. As long as he doesnt use a stupid gameplan of trying to bang, he should be able to get lavar down quick and end it since lavars sub defense is non existant.

As long as Schaub goes out there and goes for one of his old football tackles early, he should win this pretty easily.

I don't like these kind of fights where a good MMA fighter faces an inferior fighter with much superior KO power cause its usually the latter who ends up on top, not necessarily the better fighter.

To avoid that, Schaub needs to be smart, he has to be patient and pick his shots, be light on his feet, get in and out. He has better boxing than Lavar and he needs to use that. in his fight against Big Ben when he hurt him he desperately went in for the kill and he paid for it, he can't afford to make the same mistake with Lavar.

@DeLaRiva then I guess by your logic Matt Serra is a better MMA fighter than Georges St Pierre.

But I'm not gonna get into an argument because I have discussed that topic several times, with same results. I just have a different point of view.

Your argument insinuates that a person who has better KO power, by and large, beats the better fighter. And I disagree and say, by and large, the better fighter wins. Matt Serra case exempt.

Big Johnson's two big wins came against guys who he had a serious size advantage against (Barry and Beltran). They were also guys that like to stand and bang which clearly didn't work out too well for them. If Shawn Jordan can sub lavar, I don't see why Schaub wouldn't be able to.

@DeLaRiva I didn't say it happens every time, I said it is usually the case.

My thoughts in this fight and the fact that Johnson is such a big favorite is that Lavar has a big advantage in KO power and Schaub's chin is questionable, which makes for a strong case in favor of Lavar, and it makes sense and it will probably happen, but that doesn't mean he is the better fighter IMO.

All due respect, judging talent based on results alone is being a little shortsighted.

Do people really think Schaub is going to stand with Lavar?
