I would as well.  Fitch needs a change.  I really can't stand him at WW anymore.  He is the Rich Franklin of the WW division.  The best WW, but just not quite good enough to take the champ.  He already said he would move up to MW... wish he would now, but yeah.. I agree... much rather see that fight then the rematch.

I honestly don't know how Fitch can grind out a decision with Shields. I'm surprisingly thinking Jakes boxing is better than Fitch's. If the fight goes to the ground Jake has so much time to register a submission or sweep the position.
Still would be very exciting and I can't see it being a bore fest imo.

I honestly didn't know that lol. Learn something new in MMA everyday. Reason why I love this sport. I remember it being talked about now that you've mentioned that, but I forgot totally about it. It was just me scrolling across it. @Beast thanks.

I thought you meant in the cage. I've seen that video. Doesn't really mean anything if they were to fight in the octagon.

I think jake gets the nod because of his sweeps altho it would be close.  I said before the gsp fight that id rather see either of them fight anderson over gsp. Because they both have such solid chins and length

@beast.. that was so long ago man.. it's like it doesn't count anymore!  LOL.. you're right though.  Jake would spend a lot of time on the ground in this one for sure.

Fitch is no GSP. I doubt he could ragdoll Shields like he does everyone else.

After watching the GSP - Shields fight I think I would give the edge to Shields against Fitch.  His sub game is too good for him to fall prey to Fitch

I just thought it was an interesting find. I'm not trying to say shields is better on the ground.

BJ had Fitch's back.. I wonder what would happen if Shields got his back... :)

If this fight was to happen it would have to be a #1 contenders fight and I'm not real big on GSP/Fitch 2 or GSP/Shields 2 just yet...The only WW fight I see upcoming that could have a chance to give us GSP's next opponent is Condit/DHK...Other then that its gotta be Nick Diaz

It doesn't have to be a #1 contender fight or even a title shot. It would be for the #2 slot in the world ranking but that doesn't mean either get a title shot. Though I think Fitch has waited long enough to where a 2nd title shot is justifiable. Really Fitch has been in that #2 spot since before losing to GSP and no one has been able to take it from him. There is more to a title fight than rankings public interest is also a factor as is new blood.

I think if Fitch can beat Shields(that would be an interesting fight) then he definitely deserves another shot. I'd also like to see a Shields and Condit rematch.

Jake Shields via Eye Poke

Honestly, Jake Shields should just move back up to 185 lbs. He looks terrible at 170 lbs. He's the guy to beat Anderson Silva.

no way

his take downs are too weak, Silva would knock his as out. Fitch might be able to blanket him if he moved up.
