Does this fight excite you?
If so explain your reasoning and what fighter you have to take this W.

No, it doesn't excite me much, but Rashad needed a fight and Phil was pretty much the only top10 (border line) guy not scheduled.  The fight makes sense that way I guess.  I think Rashad takes this via better stand up & good enough wrestling to stop TD's and even get a few.

When it comes time to fight, Rashad will have been out over a year. The ring rust might very well be a factor.

I agree. I do think Rashad will gas in the later rounds but I have a feeling he'll use his wrestling to go to decision. This fight I won't be buying unless they stack the card. Which I didn't really get to see if it was stacked or not. Or if other fights were already scheduled for this card.

Isn't this the Philly card?  This is the Aldo/Mendez and Franklin/Lil Nog card isn't it?

Rashad is a solid fighter who does not have many weaknesses. He will try to keep it on the feet and fend off some takedowns from Davis.

Davis is a world class grappler, and while many think his striking may be suspect we have never seen him be forced to rely on it. I think he is a good enough of a grappler to get Rashad to the ground but I doubt he can finnish him.

I like Rashad in this one, I hope Davis works on his stand up a bit and can mix it up before going for a takedown.

i actually think rashad wins this fight pretty easily. rashad can keep the fight standing and completely out work davis on the feet. rashad is probably one of the worst matchups for davis at 205.

I'm bummed that two of my favorite fighters are going to battle. I think Rashad out strikes Phil...

Davis has the better wrestling credentials so I think Rashad will have to really rely on his striking and hand speed. He should look to use his wrestling to fend off Davis the best he can and try to catch Davis with a big punch.

I agree with everyone saying that rashads wrestling is good enough to fend off davis takedowns and his stand up is so much better that he will steadily rule there.  Im guessing he takes a decision but if he looks good at the weighin im probably going to change to a rd 2 tko

@kallous.. bad things can happen by "chance" as well, so no.

Only in the hopes that someway Rashad Evans loses.

Unfortunatly, I have to agree that Rashad is the favourite here as he as more experience and is a good overall fighter. But if Davis can impose his wrestling will he could grind out a desicision here. Hopefully Davis will be working on his striking enough to throw Evans off and get the takedown.

Rashad has pretty much peaked, but Davis is on the way up. He beat Lil' Nog recently and he'll only get better I suspect. It's an interesting fight I guess, and more realistic for Rashad than Jones.

@Yaspaa beating Lil Nog isn't what it used to be anymore. (Watch @Mino get all over me for that remark!).  I think Phil just hasn't evolved his stand up enough yet.

If Davis' stand up is enough to a) not get KO'd by an agressive Evans and b) to secure a takedown then he has a good chance of winning.

@themysticninja I think his stand up is good enough and he is durable enough to likely not get knocked out (assuming also rashad is the fairly slow starter he usually is) but i dont think its good enough to get takedowns well.  His takedowns are great but rashad is a good wrestler and wont be easy to take down either way.

i honestly think Rashad will win without a problem, he is a much better and more well rounded fighter
