being MW champ isnt what makes silva the greatest, its the way he fights- he's already set all the records he can for the belt defenses, vacate the title so youve no responsibility to the division then take superfights. Your still the greatest, your still making a **** ton of money, your doing it on your own timescale, and 185 goes on as it will when you retire.

I think this time off may have something to do witth GSP claiming he would need 8 months to put on weight for Silva due to their size differences. Now GSP has no more excuses. Superfight please!

Actually, Anderson is not an employee.  All UFC fighters are independent contractors, who work by contracts.

There is nothing wrong with the UFC instituting a policy for its title holders.  But they do not at this moment, to my knowledge.

Maybe Anderson is giving GSP time to add some weight and move up.  He did say that the GSP fight was his focus.

I don't think Anderson is posturing for more money.  Money doesn't seem to be high on his priorities list.  If it were, wouldn't he be fighting more often?

I believe that for this moment, the only fights that interest him are GSP and then Jon Jones after that.  He fully realizes the public buzz and clamor.  He first wants to get the GSP fight behind him so he can focus on the really big super-fight.  With Bones Jones.  At least that is what it looks like to me.  I don't think he cares all that much about Weidman, Boetsch, Hector Lombard, and certainly not Michael Bisping.

Bill is right, Anderson isn't an employee.

Also, Anderson Silva is Anderson ******* Silva. He could take an 8 year break and not get his title stripped, what a stupid thing to suggest. Take a year off, take 5, do whatever you gotta do Anderson.

"Bill is right, Anderson isn't an employee."

No you're wrong, he works for a company that he doesn't own.

"Also, Anderson Silva is Anderson ******* Silva."

Oh, I thought he was someone else.

"He could take an 8 year break and not get his title stripped"

No he couldn't.

"what a stupid thing to suggest"

I think the statement about an 8 year break was dumber.

"Take a year off, take 5, do whatever you gotta do Anderson"

Of course he deserves time off, everyone does, but what the fans want to see is him fight GSP, Jon Jones, or Weidman.

Honestly  just want to see that fight because I want to see Silva beat Wiedman down. I am sick of people saying he the guy to beat Silva. I am sick of him and fans implying that silva is ducking him. I think thats utter nonsense. I dont think Silva fears any man. I think he confident he beat Wiedman down. And I am confident he would as well. So i just want to see it because I want Weidman to be shut up as well as number of fans.

Who else should he fight at 185? Bisping?

If Weidman beats Boetsch he will be on a 5 fight win streak in the UFC. The only other opponent in the UFC that fought Anderson Silva with that amount of a streak was Thales Leites, and he was given a gift decision against Marquardt.

I just personally feel that Weidman matches up better than Bisping does against Anderson Silva and wouldn't mind seeing that fight.

Yes, Bisping ...

Going by your logic, if Bisping beats Belfort, he'll be on a 5 of 6 fights streak, with the only loss being against two time title challenger, the only man to embarrass the GOAT on 8 days notice with a large portion of the MMA world saying he actually won the fight. He'll also have wins over Stann and Belfort, which in my books are at least equal to wins over now welterweight Maia, Munoz and overrated Boetsch, with the difference being Bisping's fought 27 times (13 wins in the UFC) to Weidman's 9 ... he can wait one more, no harm, no foul.

He's been around for longer, he's paid his dues and I don't see why wins over Munoz or Boetsch can lead to a title shot whereas a win over Belfort makes sense ...

Of course, this is just my opinion, and I'm not jumping up and calling foul if Weidman gets the first nod, but I'm pretty sure it shows that, given they both win their next fight, Bisping before Weidman isn't as far fetched as you made it out to be ...

Anyways, with Silva not fighting 'till late 2013, they'll probably have the chance to fight it out and render this discussion pointless :)

"he'll be on a 5 of 6 fights streak, with the only loss being against two time title challenger"

How would that be a streak? If he beats Belfort he'll be on a 2 fight win streak, that is a fact.

"a large portion of the MMA world saying he actually won the fight."

I agree. It was a very close fight.

"He'll also have wins over Stann and Belfort"

If he beats Belfort.

"which in my books are at least equal to wins over now welterweight Maia, Munoz and overrated Boetsch"

I haven't read your books.

"He's been around for longer, he's paid his dues and I don't see why wins over Munoz or Boetsch can lead to a title shot whereas a win over Belfort makes sense ..."

Because he will be on a 5 fight win streak.

"Of course, this is just my opinion, and I'm not jumping up and calling foul if Weidman gets the first nod, but I'm pretty sure it shows that, given they both win their next fight, Bisping before Weidman isn't as far fetched as you made it out to be ..."

The only reason is because Bisping has "paid his dues". There's alot of fighters who have "paid their dues" but when you lose you move down (unless you're Akiyama).

"Anyways, with Silva not fighting 'till late 2013, they'll probably have the chance to fight it out and render this discussion pointless :) "

That is pretty much dead on. Bisping vs. Weidman would be a great fight.

I don't usually debate fights as most people feel that they have the omnipotent view on the fight game.
