He did exactly what I expected him to. I don't think Chael would have been able to take him down no matter how hard he tried and Jones is so dynamic I wouldn't be surprised if Jon did something crazy off of his back. Those freakish elbows could easily cut someone open from the bottom and stop the fight.
Pretty interesting difference between Jon and Anderson is, Anderson can demolish you wherever you choose to take the fight. Jon does what you're expected to do to him. He did it to Vlad, Bader, Shogun, Rashad and Chael. It's pretty crazy.

How could he be that way and not in agony? His attitude was so commendable! He even went to the post-fight press conference for about 10 minutes before he went to the hospital. I would have been crying like a baby! I would have played the drama king card for all its worth.
But I do think that when he goes up to HW, he will be a force to be reckoned with. He is like GSP in that he is extremely well-rounded, has a wide and broad skill set. He doesn't care if the fight happens on the ground or the feet. Like GSP, it happens where he determines it will happen. Cain Velasquez is a little like that too, and I am not disparaging Cain in any way. I love Cain. But JJ is like a fighter apart from his peers.
I realize that in sports you can be superman one day and not the next. But until someone comes along with an equally amazing skill set, Jon Jones is probably headed to become the Greatest Of All Time (GOAT) in MMA.
He will become the Muhammad Ali of MMA. Our Jim Brown, our Michael Jordan, our Tiger Woods, our Babe Ruth. He's that good.

He didn't just want to beat him. He wanted to shut his critics up. He didn't want a single person able to say, yeah, he beat his brains in but he wouldn't have been able to do that on the ground! Jones made that rationalization impossible!
The only thing more shocking would have been for Jones to contrive to be on the bottom and locked his legs around Sonnen and beaten him to death from the bottom!!!

I don't think people are nearly as shocked as your acting Bill. From what I have seen most people thought Jones would beat Chael anywhere. i think your making a much bigger deal out of this than it was. Yes it was impressive the way Jones beat Chael, but the majority of people were not shocked about Jones being able to beat Chael on the ground. In fact that was more ore less a given. What was surpsising was Jones game plan. Not the fact he was able to beat Chael on the ground. I think you mean people where surpised he out wrestler Chael, however in terms of grappling on the ground, I dont think most people where surprised that Jones could beat Chael on the ground.
