Why couldn't he be put on his back by a 185'er with arguably the best wrestling in MMA? He almost had his arm broken by a 185'er who hasn't won via armbar since 1997. There are holes in Jones game that his length, size, and strength allow him to avoid a lot of times, but when Chael launches himself for a double leg, he'll be on his back. That's just how I see it going, down thumbs be damned.

Bones best attribute is his wrestling, Sonnen had trouble taking ****ping down, and was taken down by him as well. Bones > Sonnen in every aspect of MMA. Especially wrestling. Bones wont be put on his back, it will be Sonnen that will be eating elbow krabby patties until the ref stops it. Sonnen better make sure his TRT has him at 17:1 for this fight, thats his only chance of winning.

@TraeBlack... it seemed to work for Brock Lesnar. He got his title shot after 3 pro fights. I agree with you though, fighters should have to earn the shot. The flip side of that is, all the contenders above him are ducking Jones (Lyoto, Shogun) and the ones who aren't ducking are injured.
At least people will talk about Chael, and the casual fans will watch the season and the ppv!

This is horrible news.I wanted to see Jones fight the contenders at 205 and clear them out.Not fight a guy who makes the UFC a joke by talking his way into any fight he wants.I would never wish a fighter actual harm,But I kind of hope a really minor injury ends this soon or something.This is not acceptable.This is major hypocrisy.

Dana says how he can make Silva vs Bones happen, then he sets up Sonnen vs Bones to coach TUF. AFTER he himself said that Sonnen wasnt gonna talk his way to a title shot, and would have to beat at least 2 or 3 guys before he gets a title shot. All this for rating to a trash ass show? What a joke the UFC is becoming.

Down-vote me all you like.Bottom line is Chael is in no position to fight for the LHW title.This is the definition of selling out.Sure we might have a good season of TUF.To bad this makes the sport look terrible.As much as you guys hate to admit it.MMA is very similar to pro wrestling.Anyone who can put butts in the seats can fight for a title.If Chael somehow wins Bill needs to make a Left Hand of God thread.

Good for TUF, bad for UFC. However, I like watching the show and some great fighters came from the show so I'm alright with it. Just wish Chael wasn't able to talk his way into this shot and it went to someone that deserved it.

I hate that Jones gets to fight 2 middleweights when hes already too big for the LHW but at least we get to see him annoyed by sonnen for all those weeks.

why does chael sonnen deserve this? If I counted correctly, his UFC record is 6-6. And he's coming off a loss. And he hasnt fough at light heavyweight in years. Not cool

Say what you want about casual fans... I'm not one and neither are most of us on this site. That said, you can't discredit the importance of casual fans. Yes, they're annoying... but they buy tickets and PPVs and move the business forward. The more casual fans, the better UFC does, the more money fighters make... more events, more giving back to fans, etc. I could go on forever.
What people need to understand, UFC is a business. Especially now they're on FOX you need to bring the best possible product to the much larger TV audience if UFC hopes to gain more of a fanbase or become mainstream at all.
