Since it's a slow day in the world of MMA, I thought it would be cool to talk about Tapology and ourselves.. anything at all regarding the same. I'll get a brief start going..
I live in PA, am 30 and have been a fan of MMA since I was a teenager. Work for the railroad and rarely ever miss an event regardless of promotion/stature. I like Tapology b/c of the environment it fosters. I wish we could edit/delete our posts... maybe have categories of threads for the forums, but all in all, I appreciate the type of place this is thus far.

Just got home from seeing Ted, it's the first R movie I've seen in theaters that I was able to buy my own ticket for instead of sneakiing in ;) It was hella funny though and the theater was PACKED.

I love music, and took up bass guitar 3-4 years ago. I'm not that good, but it's a lot of fun. My name/avatar is a reference to the man who I am convinced is the greatest bass guitarist ever, James Jamerson, who was the session bassist for almost all the Motown recordings.
No martial arts background or anything; for most of my life I've been in relatively poor physical shape. My brother and me, inspired largely by watching MMA and seeing people who are mostly in incredibly good shape, have been getting in the gym for about over a year now, and we're seeing huge improvements - my torso is looking increasingly square (I have shoulders! I never thought I would have shoulders), lifting things no longer sucks, no more lower back pain just from sitting too long, my cardio is better, etc. I wish I'd been doing this stuff all along. A bit more and we'll start getting into some sort of martial arts training. Positive message of hope: If I can do it, pretty much anybody can, right? Being an "athletic" sort of person is not a prerequisite for being in shape.
Other than that, I'm a huge nerd, but I think that's probably pretty common here? I mean, look at the number of A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Throne avatars and such you see.
I think Tapology is pretty great ... it's easier to track your picks than doing it on your own and making math errors (humanities guy here) and it means that you can see somebody's opinion and check how they've done in the past.

Also, James Jamerson is a beast, no doubt. I would say that he's the 2nd greatest bassist I've ever heard.

And I would personally say John Entwistle, but that's maybe 'cause I was a huge Who fan back in the day.

Entwhistle is a very strong bassist - really carved out a place for bass guitar in rock. As with exercise, I wish I'd been playing an instrument a lot earlier ... so much fun. Do you play bass, or another instrument, or just have an appreciation for the too-often-ignored bass?

The books are pretty good, I recommend them, but only if you have a lot of spare time, since they're very long. Thousands of pages in the series so far, and it isn't even done.
