I am surprised that no one has started this thread yet.

I know this is an MMA website but I bet that there are some Boxing Fans out there.

I just love the sport of fighting in general and I have been raised by boxing.

So in this Thread we can discuss the "Sweet Science"

such as
Past Fights
Upcoming Events
Favorite Fighters
and Historical Figures in the Sport

Because like MMA in the US, Boxing started out illegal. But where it took MMA less than 25 years to gain the General populations approval, It took boxing over 100 years.

Discuss and have fun.

@shake Sorta. He came back up to fight Manny, but my understanding was the original plan had been to go back to 140. I guess he's scheduled to fight Bradley now though. Even then, don't wanna see him rematch Floyd.

On the note of Marquez, did anyone else think his speed and strength at 147 was suspicious in his last fight?

I never said anything about body type. I meant it was unbelievable that a guy could pack so much more power than he previously had and be so much faster while being at an advanced age. I wouldn't have thought anything about it if he had been in his late 20s to early 30s, but the fact that he was 39 and appeared faster and more powerful than he had a year previous is what made me suspicious.

Looks like Pacquiao vs Rios is a go. It should be announced on Yahoo! Sports shortly. That's a good scrap!

I want Rios vs. Alvarado III.

Should be a win for Pacquiao which would be good for him after the horrible Bradley decision loss and the nasty Márquez KO.

@p4pgoat The fight is in Macau, not in Los Vegas. I wouldn't worry to much about the judges unless they want some type of riot which wouldn't be a good idea.

Indeed. He got off lucky that Gonzalez quit on his stool. Gonzalez could have jabbed and jogged for the rest of the fight and still won in my opinion. Rumors were that he broke his hand but that just seems like an excuse. He gassed himself out and quit after he threw everything at Burns a few round earlier.

Burns is extremely tough but you can see why he was putting off fighting Broner. It would be a bloodbath.
