TAPOLOGY TALKS: PRO WRESTLING

That's right, in another edition of Tapology Talks we bring to you pro wrestling! I've seen individual threads on pro wrestling, I've seen pro wrestling talk litter all over the "Slow Days" thread so why don't we try to manage the talk?

And what better way than to open up a Tapology Talks thread, amirite?

So to start the conversation, who here's a pro wrestling fan, when were you introduced to pro wrestling, your favorite wrestlers, etc. etc?

I became a pro wrestling fan in 2008, my first match I ever saw was WWE Raw with CM Punk vs MVP, my favorite wrestlers are CM Punk, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Daniel Bryan. I'm starting to watch pro wrestling again because CM Punk's slowly turning heel, and that's great news.

How bout you?

Holy ****, I haven't heard of the Busaiku Knee Kick in a long ass time. That is one of my favorite finishing maneuvers, just look at this ****:


Notice the beginning flurry, that's something CM Punk used to always do. Also notice the guy who's taking this beating, if you haven't heard of him his name is Kota Ibushi. Back when I was a hardcore wrestling fan, that dude was the ******* ****. One of the most athletic high flyers I've ever seen, he's Ricochet-good.

God i hope Paige loses the title tonight i don't get why they made her champ so fast she sucks none of her matches are entertaining all she does is scream like a man the whole match .

@Gunn, I think she is a great wrestler but they don't give her any character.

great ? Lita was great Paige is good but not great . she had some fun matches back in NXT but since becoming the champion her matches have been pretty boring feels like all she does now is scream the whole match .

i think Charlotte would be a  much more interesting Diva's Champion .

I didn't say her matches are great. It is difficult to see more of their ability when they aren't allowed to show what they can do. While I really dislike Cena, I am pretty sure he would be more entertaining if WWE allowed him to try out different moves instead of forcing him to do the usual. As for Charlotte, I was a little disappointed that they made her theme song a rendition of Ric Flair's theme. I understand why they did it but I dislike when they give a wrestler their parent's theme. Same with Curtis Axel. 

Axel has been a failure . if Cena wins tonight ill be pissed i want something new like Bray , Cesaro Heyman can make it work or even Roman.  if Cena or Kane win  BOOOOOOOOO . but speaking of Cena .....

^10/10, would disappoint. 

NAomi is doing everything entertaining in the ring this match as usual all Paige is doing is AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH we get it you can scream how about you wrestle ....

Hope the WWE does this right and has Reigns win the title at one of the major ppvs and as he's celebrating have Rollins cash in...makes Reigns a huge star and puts incredible heat on Rollins 

@kallousklown Watch some of John Cena's OVW (or OCW, I don't remember) matches as 'The Prototype', he definitely has some moves. The spinout powerbomb (if you even want to call it a powerbomb, it's more of a sideslam now) he does now was nothing like the Protobomb he did before, that **** was a legitimate spinout powerbomb. If I remember correctly, Cena's FU used to end in a sitout position. His dropkicks were sick too.

@gunn4206 It sounds like you're surprised? I was pissed when they paired Curtis Axel with Paul Heyman because it was a waste of Heyman's time in my eyes, Curtis Axel is actual ****. Do you not remember this promo?

That's like, a negative amount of talent. You can't fix that blandness.

Forgive me for raiding this thread, but I have a quick question ... how can you make a scripted fight boring?

Pro wrestling isn't entirely scripted, the majority of spots are discussed before the match or improvised. Pretty much the only thing that's entirely scripted are the finishes and any major moments that are going to be referred to in the future  (like an interference, cheating or a referee getting attacked). Here's an example I'd like to use:

This match was widely criticized because of how tentative it was. The reason for this was because both Goldberg and Brock Lesnar were leaving the company and this was going to be their last match; because of that, they decided to have a gentleman's agreement to not go as hard. Steve Austin was able to gauge the crowd reaction and decided to use his finisher against both wrestlers after the match; to my knowledge, that was not scripted and both Lesnar and Goldberg were completely unaware that Austin was going to stun them, but both of them sold it great.

yea it's not like they sit in the back going over every single move they are gonna do .they just go over the big moves and if a interference will happen or not like Anik said . and God that Lesnar / Goldberg match is still terrible haven't watched it since that wrestlemania .

also in Ladder matches it's pretty much all Improvising and calling out the spots the whole match . i noticed a mistake last night during the Money In The Bank match  Ambrose called out for Swagger to get him on the ladder but jack ****** up must not have heard him and Ambrose was up at the top he could of grabbed the Briefcase  but instead was looking around all frustrated waiting for Swagger to come in  and knock him down .


here is a pretty interesting story i keep meaning to put in this thread anyone remember the TLC match on Raw few years ago between RVD&Jeff Hardy  , Bubba & Spike , Jericho & Christian and Kane& Hurricane ?

well there was a spot in the match where Jericho gave Bubba a bulldog off the ladder here it is ...




well Bubba didn't take it so well although you would of never guessed that if you watched the match ... for everyone who still says all Pro Wrestlers are ******* , ******* OMG IT'S ALL FAKE EVERYTHING IS FAKE   well listen to this ....



the full match is on Youtube i recently watched it again it's crazy how well Bubba did after that Bulldog .

YES !! AJ is the champ again . think WWE  realized they ****** up making PAige champion she got carried in every match after winning the belt all she did was scream .  and damn AJ looking fine as always  .
