This will either be the most satisfying fight in welterweight history, or the most disappointing.

Yessssssssssssss! please, please happen. I desperately want to see Silva against Fitch, I think this will be the test he could pass with flying colors, I can't say I like Fitch's chances. Silva's Judo and bjj will could make this a nightmare for Fitch to control, and Silva's aggression and power make it even worse, he sould dominate the standup and do well enough to avoid or fend off anything bad on the ground.

thats a pretty sweet matchup i'll be pulling for Silva but it's a pretty tough task for him.  They are really putting together a nice card for Brazil to make up for 147

I was lucky enough to see Erick end Brenneman live. Can't wait to see him back in the octagon. We saw how he handled a high level wrestler.Fitch is on another level though.I got Silva taking this. He's to quick and has to much power.Should be a good one.

Now lets all take a minute and pray (atheists to) that this fight does happen and nothing messes this up.

Awesome matchup.  And it's win-win for both fighters.

For Fitch, this is a step up from his original fight (against Aaron Simpson) so he gets a fighter more on his level.

For Silva, this is his big chance to fight a Top 10 Welterweight and really boost up his reputation!

After Fitch got KO'd I'm guessing he's going to go back to what he knows......Holding his opponet down for 3 rounds while not looking for a sub or any ground n pound. Fitch wins UD.

I have to back Fitch on this.  He may not be the most exciting fighter, but he knows how to win.  He lost to hendricks, anyone can get knocked out with one punch though, I don't think that out come would happen if they were to fight ten more times.

Silva has been exciting, and maybe once he gets a bigger list of names on his victory list I would back him.  Until then, a good fight, but I have to go Fitch.

UFC 153 is becoming a sick card.
Jose Aldo vs. Erik Koch
Vitor Belfort vs. Alan Belcher
Jon Fitch vs. Erick Silva
Quinton Jackson vs. Glover Teixeira
Rony Jason vs. Sam Sicilia
Sergio Moraes vs. Renee Forte
Reza Madadi vs. Cristiano Marcello

Also this is in Brazil. This will have REALLY fast stand ups if it's like the last 3 events.

This will be tell-tale for both fighters.  I assume after the Hendricks debacle, Fitch will be extra on guard for an early punch.  I assume that Fitch will take this to the ground quickly.

Once on the ground, it will be all-important, essential and decisive for both fighters.  Good match-up.  I question pitting Erick against such a formidable, tenacious opponent so early in his quest for greatness.  I think he will find himself over his head on the ground.

It will be a good fight and give the winner some good bounce.  Fitch has a lot more to lose.  If he wins, people will say he was supposed to win against a relative newcomer.  So, Fitch's bounce will be minimal.

But if Silva wins, his bounce will be massive.  And everyone will write off Fitch.  If by any fluke, Silva lands a punch early and wins by KO, I fear for Fitch's future with the UFC.  They would not be heart-broken to release him.

So, for Fitch, this is life and death.  Not nearly so much for Silva.  I look forward to this fight with great enthusiasm.

They've really thrown Erick Silva into the deep end of the ocean.

Fitch is gonna smash him, just because he lost one fight doesnt mean he still isnt the number 2 WW in the world

just because he was no. 2 for several years doesn't mean he always will be,  Erick is a well rounded fighter, he's fast has good TDD, has power and good BJJ, Fitch is not an easy match but saying he's going to win because he is the No. 2 contender (which he isn't) it's crazy.

This is going to go to whoever is more mentally prepared. Silva needs to keep is head on his shoulders or he won't stand a chamce
