Joe Warren is very ****y.  But I don't think he's a bad guy, I think he enjoys talking smack and getting the fans and his opponents worked up.  He always has a grin on his face.

As you can tell by my top 100 favorite fighters list, ****iness is something that really makes me dislike a fighter. I personally think Warren's ****iness is unwarranted. He got beat by Pitbull (dammit Kentucky!) and Kid Yamamoto (if I remember correctly) on my scorecards, and he got his ass handed to him by Soto, then caught him, yet he still considers himself "the Baddest Man on the Planet" or whatever. I think his time at the top of Bellator is ticking away. (Don't get me wrong, he is good, just not THAT good.)

One of my best friends older brother wrestled him in high school and beat him twice.  Said he was a ****y punk then too.  I'd put my money on him for gold at the olympics though.

I'm not disagreeing with you.  Aside from his personality, what do you guys think of him as a fighter? What's his ceiling?

He's a good wrestler has some power (that or Soto has no chin) and can take a beating. His is pretty one dimensional right now his division is full of tough people if he ever left Bellator. He has the wrestling to hold anyone down but with the holes in his game it's just a matter of time before they are exploited.

Warren's is ****y but also confident. This has to be why he has also decided to enter next season's bantamweight tournament. This I admire. though he might see it as a backup plan for if and when Pitbull wins this tournament and takes the strap. I do think though that Warren is entirely capable of winning the bantamweight title from Zach Makovsky.

I don't think he will ever amount to much more than what he already is.  He's not focused exclusively on MMA and is going to be 35 this year.  BTW, do you know why olympic gold is the only thing missing from his wrestling resume?

The story I heard was he was training in colorado, got hurt and got a medical marijuana perscription, then flunked a drug test not realizing how long it takes to clear your system.

Wow, I didn't know about this!  Just looked it up...

http://sports.espn.go.com/oly/news/story?id=3198698

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Former world wrestling champion Joe Warren will miss the Olympics after an arbitrator upheld the American's two-year suspension for a second positive test for marijuana.

The decision, announced Tuesday by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, will leave the U.S. team without the 2006 world champion in the Greco Roman 132-pound division.

The seven-page decision outlined Warren's argument that a two-year ban, which makes him ineligible for the Olympics, was too harsh a penalty for using a drug that did not enhance his performance.

Warren, whose the****** diagnosed him with major depression, said he was aware a second positive test would carry a harsh penalty but testified that "it was hard to stop because he needed to use it to help him sleep," the decision said.

The arbitrator said Warren made a good case "for exceptional circumstances regarding his one use of marijuana in May 2007."

But that violation, combined with an earlier positive in 2006, led the arbitrator to rule that the two-year suspension was appropriate.

"Nor is the sanction a violation of fundamental justice and fairness in light of Mr. Warren's several opportunities to avoid putting himself in a position where a positive test finding was likely to be made," the decision read.

Warren's suspension will last through July 22, 2009.

Interesting that the suspension was to expire in July 2009, and his first MMA bout was March 2009.  That article was written January 2008.  So I guess Warren said screw it, I'm going to train MMA for a year and do that instead.

Joe Warren is ****y... but at least he can back it up. He's Chael Sonnen at 145 lbs. He should go to the UFC and fight Jose Aldo. Sonnen vs. Silva, the featherweight version.

"Joe Silva could call Dan Miller at 3 in morning to tell him he's fighting Godzilla in an hour and he would take that fight."
